Since the recent refurbishment the range and availability of fresh/perishable goods is far less than before. Also seems to have some serious stocking issues of staple products like pasta sauce since reopening two months ago
Ever since the refurbishment, there seems to be less items on offer. Staff are amazing, but at peak time, expect to stand in line a wait foe self check out!!
Since the reopening, most of the shelf space is used up with packaged junk food and fizzy drinks, leaving a greatly reduced area for fruit, vegetables and meat. The junk food and drink isles are empty, whilst the reduced fruit, veg and meat isles are crammed with shoppers struggling to shop for healthy food. Bad management has permanently positioned staff in the only busy part of the store to load a large trolley with cardboard packaging, making customers feel under pressure to keep moving. This is a manipulative strategy to influence shoppers away from the healthy food section into the junk food/ alcohol isles which now account for over 90% of the store space. I have also noticed that sugars are now being added to a number of ready meals that previously didn't contain them. It is a great shame as we used to place alot of trust in Waitrose above other supermarkets.
Easy access. Small store, but stocks everything. Decent parking, be aware, only for an hour. Friendly and helpful staff.
The recent addition of prominent facial recognition cameras is incredibly creepy and not in keeping with the values I expect of Waitrose. We rightly condemn the use of technology like this by authoritarian regimes around the world - its use by a supermarket is overkill and frankly unsettling. I understand the need to reduce theft in stores, however I would encourage measures that don’t infringe on the privacy of your paying customers.nnMost strangely of all, the privacy policy on the Waitrose website says “our CCTV systems do not use facial recognition nor do they collect biometrics”. Yet you will see in the attached photo the camera quite easily recognising… my face. Even if you disregard my feedback you may wish to update this policy as it doesn’t appear to reflect in store reality.
