Lovely Aladdin’s cave of vintage books. My daughter had a lovely time looking through the old Ladybird books and vintage Enid Blyton’s. Unfortunately no card payments so the gentleman kindly put our books behind the desk till we return tomorrow. A card machine would likely increase sales ?
Cheapest secondhand book store I’ve been to. An amazing selection and amazing owners. I can see myself spending many hours and many more pennies in the coming months. Thank you for running such a wonderful place.
Such a treasure trove of mostly second hand books. I spent a long time rooting through the children's section finding many titles I read many years ago. All genres available and no doubt something for everyone. Purchased several books and had a lovely chat with the helpful young lady at the desk. Will definitely visit again
I discovered this lovely bookshop yesterday. It’s an Aladdin’s cave of treasures. I managed to find five climbing books that I wasn’t aware of, plus a couple of other exciting finds. I’m looking forward to a return visit! The staff are so knowledgeable too. It was wonderful just browsing at my leisure.
Magical den of arcane bookery. Wonderful staff and beguiling stock.
One of my favourite bookshops. Situated opposite New Brighton station and on the same parade of shops as the excellent Sea Shanty cafe and Lavender and Bone gift etc shop. Primarily second hand with some new books from local authors, Literally... has something from everyone and at affordable prices. They also buy or accept books for sale and I often take books to them and end up taking new books in exchange! Friendly and with the feel of a bookshop from my childhood in 70s and 80s, I would strongly recommend this shop.
Been in a few times and for a 2nd hand book shop the choice is amazing. Prices are amazing also, the first time I went in the lady running the shop was very welcoming and polite. Love this shop will be going back more and more.
Not very impressed really, like an old second hand bookshop. Seemingly very little effort made to make it more. No conversation, not even a smile. Bit miserable if I'm honest. Not the kind of place you see lasting, which is a pity. And I love bookshops, don't want anything gimmicky or dear christ 'modern', just a bit nicer to be in. Used to be some good vinyl shops in New Brighton, maybe they could get together? Like 'Rare and Racy' of Sheffield back in the day. Ho hum. ADDED-I have no idea how to respond to a comment on a review so this might be a bit clunky in reply- I went in last Saturday afternoon and bought 2 paperbacks; F. Scott Fitzgerald and a T. S. Eliot play. I'm glad your reviews are positive, and wish you well. I reviewed from my personal perspective and was unaware that if the reviews were going well I had to echo them. Good luck with your shop but the fact I now know you've got 5 years in doesn't retrospectively make my experience any better. Perhaps I shopped wrong? Maybe I should try again.
Always helpful and a happy place to mooch
Great little book shop, good stock and reasonable prices, nice staff, always pop in when in New Brighton.
