Linghams Bookshop is located near to the centre of Heswall, along Telegraph Road, near to traffic lights and close to Lloyds Bank, Heswall Branch. They are a well established independent booksellers business. A cafe is at the rear of the shop where you can sit down at tables - tea and cakes are available, cooked food is also available, such as beans on toast, cheese on toast, coffee, milk shakes, etc. all.detailed on a menu. Its possible to sit down and read books purchased at the front of the store. Linghams has another Bookshop in West Kirby about 5 miles away. Their Heswall Bookshop carries a fairly extensive range of all types of books including Lonely Planet and other travel guides. All books are categorized as one might expect and this incudes many novels, biographies, small gifts, cards etc which promotes the Wirral and history of Heswall.and the surrounding area. Regularly throughout the year Linghams holds New Book Presentation Evenings with many popular local and nationwide authors and writers at the shop.and at other nearby locations, sometimes at Heswall.Hall and quite often at Birkenhead School for example. Its a good bookshop with friendly, kowledge staff on hand serving from a centralised counter area. A good place to even if you.simply want to browse through a selection books, including academic titles. They also cater for children with a small but functional dedicated section, this attracts mothers with younger children and babies. Toilets are located at the rear of the shop, always clean and tidy. Its well.worth a visit if you are interested in books. Books can be ordered at the counter should they not carry the stock - easily done. Recommended.
The cosiest book shop I ever did see I love this book shop so much, it is spacious yet cosy, with friendly staff and a lovely cafe too! Every time I go in I feel like I’m stepping into a cosy fantasy novel set in a bookshop and really inspires me while choosing my next book. Wish we had more wholesome shops like this, it’s a gem!
I enjoyed a book event at this venue in 2024. However, I visited this shop last week and I was disappointed. I ordered the new Book of Dust online and I went around the shop to buy some of books as it was quiet. No offer of help or acknowledgement from the staff as I was looking for a particular book- a French dictionary. I found the book and I went back to the same assistant who gave me my online order.nnI handed in my loyalty card but she refused to stamp it as I hadn't spent enough money. Even though I had spent £25 on a online order. I paid for the dictionary and left.nnSo much for supporting Independent Bookshops!!
Ordered a book from Linghams and it arrived very quick. It was packaged with great care and shows that they love books! Would happily buy from here again and if I'm ever in the area then I will make sure to pop in : Thank you!
