This place is a beautiful stop for those biking, walking the public paths through gorgeous fields and all thirsty and hungry people. It has a beautiful community atmosphere, the food is good and the outside seats and garden beautiful. We arrived on a sunny Sunday and enjoyed a delicious roast under the huge tree in front of the pub.
Great pub, beautiful setting, lovely ambience, charming staff and great food and beer. Highly recommended. 5*
A warm and rustic pub with an open fire at one end, a central bar and a wood stove at the other end. Low beamed ceilings and eclectic furnishing add to the inviting feel. The staff is friendly and the food is good, but in no way fussy. Dogs are welcome. A good place to stop if walking on the Ridgeway path. Dogs are welcome.
Great local pub. Very characteristic decor and cosy atmosphere. We were made to feel very welcome. Had a lovely midweek lunch. Food was honest and tasty no frills but reasonably priced and good quality. Highly recommend this pub. You can easily walk up to Chinnor hill from the car park at the rear, to help walk off you lunch too
I like quality food. So expected better for the price. Barman seemed to lack social skills in making clients feel welcome and like others said, seemed tired. Eventually he perked up a bit and was reasonably polite.
Spot on. A gem of a country pub, an ancient building set in rolling countryside. Cosy atmosphere, traditional pub food with generous portions at a reasonable price, nice range of ales on tap, friendly staff. Absolutely top notch.
Interesting pub. Good stop over if you’re walking in the area.
Lovely hidden away pub. Lots of history and lots of sunshine in the garden with a good selection of ales
Really enjoyed our visits here. Food great and dogs welcome everyone very friendly. Great to visit a traditional unspoilt pub in beautiful setting. A must if you are in the area.
The place looks really good, very pretty location, a cosy interior well decorated and a very large carpark with lovely beer gardens. However I don't think I would return. Seemingly only one member of staff serving who appeared to be quite tired/down. I had the gammon steak with chips, onion rings and garnish and for the price of £14.99 I expected something of much better quality. It tasted like cheap frozen food and I found the chips to be really unpleasant. I had however wanted to have one of the specials which was sold out so maybe the specials are of a higher standard. If I was passing through again though, I would find somewhere else personally.
