Spectacular views in a gorgeous setting. Staff friendly, rooms contain everything you need for a short break or long stay and are clean and tidy. Along with the food and drink you couldn't want for more. Great value for money to boot.

went here with a group of friends for a meal food was great, staff where friendly and would recommend to hikers, travellers or locals who fancy food or somewhere to rest there heads. i give 4 stars due to the fact some menu items where out of stuck and chilli flakes where not stocked at all. but was made up for with quality of food on offer. Again i would recommend this pub for food and its warm atmosphere, i myself will definitely be going again!

One of our favourite UK pubs. Good food, with a selection of well kept beer. The Lion is a welcome retreat on cold, windy days, after spending some time hiking in the vicinity. A busy, welcoming atmosphere, and a great place to refuel yourself and people watch

Had Sunday roast (lamb) came with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, boiled potatoes, cabbage, carrots, peas and swede. It was absolutely delicious. Booking is a must as it was extremely busy. Staff were very polite, friendly and attentive.

A wonderful inn situated in the middle of nowhere with magnificent views all round. It I'd very quaint as befits its centuries old age. Wonderful open fires. Excellent food which is well cooked and served in copious quantities. The accommodation is warm clean and comfortable. All in all an excellent place to visit for all occasions ranging from a quick drink through to overnight stays
