Just got back from staying here for two nights and for the most part it was a lovely break.nnOn arrival we were greeted with a large carpark, plenty of space for those with the largest of cars, needless to say no trouble parking. Only downside you have to walk up hill to the hotel dragging your bags with you, there is space to pull up right outside the hotel but we didn't want to bother with having to move the car.nnOnce in reception there was a leaking air con unit which didn't give the best 1st impression did seem to be resolved within a few hours but reception staff were friendly and check-in was fairly seamless.nnWe booked a cosy super king room 26 when it says cosy it really does mean cosy, there was enough room to move around the bed but that's about it, even having enough room to open the suitcase was a challenge. There is a small wardrobe with hanging space and a good amount of hangers. TV seemed to have a mind of its own, it was on when we arrived and decided to turn its self on at 3am with i was not amused about we turned it off at the wall for the rest of the stay. Bath room was good enough but needed updating, shower was nice.nnWe ate in the onsite restaurant both nights. Because of the way the hotel is setup everyone has to go through the restaurant area from spa/reception to the rooms, this meant it lost that cost intimate feel, it would have been better situated in the breakfast room we will come to later. On both nights the staff were excellent, my gluten intolerance was not an issue and nothing was too much. Food on the whole was ok, couple of minor issues but nothing to shout about.nnBreakfast is in a different room at the back of the hotel, again staff were excellent, gluten free toast was made separately from the buffet and was no issue. We both enjoyed the hot breakfast we ordered but I will say the gluten free sausage was terrible on both days it had an odd chemical taste to it, this need to be removed.nnWe used the spa on our first day and again staff were helpful and attentive. The option to order drinks in the spa is lovely and we took advantage of this, it is a little on the pricy side. Spa its self needs some work, there are a number of damaged tiles and fittings that needed attention but nothing that stopped us enjoying it. I especially enjoyed the various hydro therapy options. We didn't have any treatments so I cant comment for those.nnTo summarise it was a lovely stay, staff are very friendly and helpful, nothing is too much. The hotel feels a little dated in areas and could do with some TLC. We slept well and enjoyed our stay. I'm not sure we would rush back because of the distance but will return if in the area.
We have stayed on the hotel over the last 15 years and each time we return you can see that investment is put back in improvements and the facilities rather than in the pocket of the Directors. Service is special and one is treated as if you are the only guest there. Doggy care is first class and they cater for their every need. Bar prices are comparable with pub prices, breakfast is good and evening meals are adequate. Entertainment on bank holiday was superb and the staff exceeded expectations- well done team see you again soon!
Beautiful Hotel in a quiet location 10 min walk to the Marina. Professional and friendly service with great breakfast. Only downside was bed mattress was unusually, really firm for a hotel which was a bit uncomfortable. But didn't detract from lovely stay.
Everything about this establishment was of the highest caliber. The staff was courteous and well-mannered, the food was delectable, and the cleanliness was impeccable. The spa, in particular, was one of the finest I have had the pleasure of visiting.
Lovely place. The breakfast was delightful. Room was spacious and quiet. The spa was amazing - I could live in the Himalayan salt room. Already planning another stay for later in the year.nnMust add that it is not accessible for those with mobility problems. Not only is it at the top of a hill but there are no lifts available.
