Moved areas recently and dreaded changing GP. But can I just say how pleasantly surprised I've been with this surgery. Yes, there are waits on the phone and for appointments as there are everywhere but I feel they really try to sort you out as best they can. And the receptionists have always been super friendly and helpful. A bit of understanding on both sides goes a long way, keep it up!
You must queue outside from 07:30 to have a hope of getting an appointment when they open the door at 08:00. Telephone bookings don't work, too much demand.nnYou will then be asked what your issue is as they MUST tell the doctor. When they can't hear you because of the perspex screen separating you from them, you. must say it loudly enough for the whole room to understand your issue.nnWhen you get your appointment it is usually a phone call from the doctor at any time in the day they can't tell you when. That is of course, unless they get a non medically trained staff member to call you and pass along a message such as 'so what's the problem?'.nnMore and more as the years go by, people go out of their way to avoid having to see you. I'm sure the doctors are just too busy to see everyone.nnUpdate 1 year later: Adding another star after a couple of really good interactions with a Dr Finnikin.
The pharmacy attached to this is mediocre! I was prescribed a 5 day course of antibiotics to be started immediately. The pharmacist didn’t have them in stock and offered to order them in with a 4 day lead time! I then demanded a printed copy of the prescription to take anywhere. The electronic prescription system feels like a monopoly.
I would suggest although google is great for potentially new patients what to expect, patients should send their feedback to the CQC this is the only way we can see any improvement in care for the Sutton Coldfield group practice and for our feedback to be noted. Experience as a patient who spent one hour trying to get hold of receptionist and finally got through, said would be called back never happened days later, had to take time off work instead to go into the surgery to book the apt instead, no surprise wasn’t a soul in the queue at reception obviously we are being made to call a very busy inaccessible central line. We’re in a cost of living crisis, taking of work to book an appointment is far from ideal!
After receiving a text from a Doctor to contact the surgery for a review in relation to medication. I have tried on several occasions to obtain an appointment or even a telephone appointment. I was told that no appointments were available and try at 8.00 am in the morning. In another few weeks my medication will run out and I will be told that I need a review. Never used to be like this at least I could be guaranteed a telephone appointment. Annoyed long standing patient of Ley Hill Surgery.
