So as I passed through Old Street I came accross Lennies. It looked uninviting but I was hungry as I had no breakfast amd saw they had Salt Beef Bagels for £3.50. When I entered I saw the fridges with old gurkins and unappetising assortment of salads and sandwich fillings. The woman servimg me then asked another person to take my money who over charged me by about £1.20 so enquired why Id been charged £5:30 for the £3.50 bagel amd can of gimger beer. This then ended up with the woman makimg hissing and speaking under her breath at me to another person there. I got my money back and left and wont be going there again. It looks like they are strugglimg for business and if a humgry Irishman walks out I can understamd why they find it hard to serve or keep customers. I was in the hospotality business for years as my paremts ran and owmed pubs & reataurants and I know how and why Lennies is goimg out of business. First impressions last and the place looks like no one knows what kerb appeal means or presentstion or friemdly customer service.
3 stars for affordability, speed and convenience. Food quality seemed average. I had a salmon and cream cheese bagel which was £2.50. The location is great, just on the corner on the right as you exit the tube and I was in and out in under 60 seconds, though all that had to be done was pick a bagel off the shelf and hand me my change. Decent amount of filling in the bagel though it was literally just salmon and cream cheese, nothing fancy. I'd go there again if I was on my way to work and needed something quick and easy but wouldn't go out of my way.
Great food and reasonably priced. I thought of trying it many time and I am glad I eventually didFood: 5/5
When in East London and after a nice bagel to get your day started, do yourself a favour and go anywhere else. Literally anywhere else. Dry bagel from a supermarket, wafer thin salt beef warmed up on a hot plate.
Average at best. Bagel was stale and not very generous in terms of the filling inside. Customer service could also be improved.Food: 2/5
Very nice food Full Of flavour... I had a samosa and a sandwich. It took around 5 mins for them to prepare it for me, so I'm not sure I would go there in a rush. The flavour is definitely worth the wait. Impressive drink selection as well. Prices were decent. I shall definitely be going again. Food tastes fresh as well.
Following my initial visit to Lennies 6 months ago when this same woman with zero customer service skills served me and i was dumbfounded just how rude she was, i reluctantly purchased the food i ordered. Since then i always feel tempted to go in from what apears to be a great selection of food and juices but dread the same poor customer service. I took the plunge and popped in several months later and to my dismay that it was the same woman, this time handed me the card machine and walked off, the part of it fell off and she had the cheek to tell me "great job, well done thanks for that" followed by a vile look and rolling of the eyes.. its fair to say i will never be so much as peeking at this place again. Absolutely terrible terrible terrible service!!!
Very good fast food cafe in the station. No frills breakfast rolls, plenty of other options & though you can get better coffee elsewhere for more coin, the efficient & friendly staff make it a regular for me. NB I haven’t tried the lunch dishes but they look pretty good.
If I could give this place zero stars I would - the lids don't fit the cups so ideal if you want to scald yourself on a hot beverage. Food wise I opted for the salt beef bagel - what I got was 2 slices of leather resembling salt beef in a bagel ... took a bite, sctually no that's not true .. I couldn't actually bite through the meat... rather dragged the entire slice from the bagel and gave up after rescuing my chin from being smothered in the mustard that came with the slice. Best part of it all ... chucking it in the bin !!
Best bacon roll in the area! Very decent bread roll, packed with very decent bacon, with a big slice of tomato, a squeeze of mayo and a good shake of black pepper, exactly as I like it. Served quickly with a smile, what'snot to like?
