this is the worst airport in the world! I've been to hundreds of airports across the world and this is the worst organized, it is 20 times smaller than it should be for the number of people travelling through it so it is the most cramped airport. there is no space to sit at all, people are sitting on the floor everywhere, it is super noisy, there is always something else you have to do somewhere else for each simple task like baggage drop off, security, finding your gate, all come with stupid things you have to do before continuing. even the lifts don't work and there are leaks from the ceiling. usually airports advise to arrive 2h before departure to find you a lot of time to get to your gate in time. In Leeds airport YOU NEED 3-4 hours just to go through all their super badly organized baggage drop, security and gate finding. Incredible. it is a small airport in Crewe bad condition and organized in the worst possible way! Leeds airport takes the crown from Delhi airport in the "worst airport competition". pictures below are from the departures, near the waiting area. avoid it if you can
Great airport, especially in contrast to Birmingham. Yes, it is not big, but the attitude of the staff is of a high standard. With its small size it has plenty of restaurants and shops. Plenty of places to sit
The approach to the car park has NO clear signage advising where over height vehicles vans should go. This means you have to stop near the height barriers to read all the other signage in hope for guidance and this will land you with fine. This problem needs addressing by the airport and carpark management, although I'm sure they're happy seeing the fines roll in.
Considering the time of day 4pm. Getting through security checks etc was relatively easy, we was extremely glad we'd paid for the fast track service as we walked straight past over 3 hours of queues and straight through security. There's plenty of food places and shops to occupy yourselves while waiting for your gate to come up. Would also recommend you don't hang about once the gate opens as it can be A fair walk.
As a family we prefer LBA over any other U.K Airport, we also prefer to fly later when it’s quiet but always opt for the more expensive early flights return. Quick checkin, friendly staff, along with a good assortment of duty free.
LBA is a fairly medium sized airport. The airport itself was generally clean and tidy throughout. Security at 4am there were fair queues and they could have opened all the lanes up as opposed to having just one. Generally my experience here was good and I would fly from here again.
Cramped, grubby, and apart from the more modern duty free shops and cafes very very dated. There are no air bridges so all transport to aircraft is by bus. Posters on the walls say they're doing a big refurb, the place definitely needs it! Two stars for the staff who were friendly, and the flight left more or less on time.
Convenient airport for us easy parking. Have been through quite a few times and never any problems And to make it easier now you no longer need to separate your liquids into clear bags as they have upgraded the security scanners
I'm only commenting on the access and parking. It's not an easy airport to get to. There are few decent roads and no rail at all. Once there, however, the drop off is well managed but a bit pricey at £6.50 . There's only one terminal so no confusion as to where to go.
I have read many negative reviews about the airport but I am had a great experience. Baggage check in started on time, the queue was quickly handled. Security was also fast, there were great restaurants and shops in the transit area, friendly service everywhere. The boarding staff were also very nice.
