I've been to a couple in Paris, I have to say in London it's good, but not as good. Food was fine, we ate well and the price was very agreeable. My only one issue is that unlike Paris where they bring you a large plate for the steak with heaters underneath, so you can keep the food hot and also cook it a little longer if you need to. That would be a nice touch like the original in Paris.nBut good place to eat nevertheless.
Really fun place to eat. Steak, frites, and their secret sauce. we're all delicious. Allowing for the fact they bring seconds if you wish portions were huge. House wine was good and good value for central London restaurant. Staff all good fun.nnNo reservations so you HAVE to queue and it's always full. Dinner starts at 5.30pm sharp so either be there well before that. I was there at 5.10pm and got in easily OR.... come at around 6.45pm as this is when the first sitting people are typically leaving.
If you’re willing to brave a queue, this restaurant is absolutely worth the wait.nFrom the outset, the simplicity of the bread and salad impressed me, they were incredibly fresh and flavorful.nThe highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the steak and fries, accompanied by a superb sauce. The steak was tender and bursting with flavor, and the sauce expertly tied everything together with the fries.nnFor dessert, the creme brulee was a showstopper, with its creamy texture and perfectly caramelized top.nnIn addition to the excellent food, the restaurant's setup and vibe are fantastic. The ambiance transports you back in time in the best possible way, adding a unique and charming touch to the dining experience.
We came here for my husband’s birthday lunch. Because we have a little one, we don’t want to queue up too long. We came 15 mins before it opens. There are probably 4 tables before us. So we can definitely be seated in the first round. At 12pm when the restaurant opened, the Q was already turning into the small street. But I think Saturday lunch, it’s okay to be seated even if you are not the first one lining up.nFood was delicious! Really love the idea of one set menu, saving the hassle of ordering . They will top up your plate once when you finished - it’s good portion after the top up.nWe also ordered strawberry and vanilla ice cream dessert which my daughter loves!nSeating was quite crowded although they do their best to accommodate families and special request. Our daughter got seated on a booster which does the job!
By now, everyone knows the deal. You’re seated and the server asks the table how you like your steak, before scribbling something on the paper tablecloth. A salad is unceremoniously placed in front of you along with some bread. This is all building up to the main event, you know what’s coming so you wolf down your salad - whether you like it or not, because you know something good is coming.nYou’re served four/five slices of perfectly cooked steak from a serving tray and a heap of chips all smothered in their special sauce. You know there’s more coming, but you still anticipate it, wondering whether they may have forgotten or they stopped their legendary ritual. Just as you begin to lose all hope, a server arrives with a second helping, and the world is alright again.nnWe were all too full and couldn’t finish the second plate, so no sweet treat was ordered.nnTime for some honesty, the steak is very good, it’s not the best steak you’ll have. The chips are good, they’re not the best. But that sauce is addictive, you’ll find yourself begging for more as you try to decipher the ingredients.nnThe atmosphere is good if you’re with a group of people you know, it is very tight in there. The chairs are uncomfortable. All designed to get you in and out as quickly as possible.
