This was the pub's first Sunday lunch under new management. We thought it was one of the best lunches we had had. The food was excellent and plentiful. Haggis with a whisky sauce. Roast pork with perfect vegetables, especially the slow cooked carrots. The very best treacle tart I have tasted. They deserve to do very well in the future.
Tried the Sunday roast here and was very impressed with the food and service. Will definitely return. Four of us indulged in three courses each. We sat in the bar area which allows dogs. The atmosphere was lovely and right by a log fireplace. The food was fresh, well cooked and very well presented, the starters were beautiful. We enjoyed the variety and depth of flavours. The desserts were also excellent and two of us specifically said the sticky toffee pudding and for me the crème brulé were the best we have ever had. Good attentive service and not a long wait for food, so absolutely no complaints. Even the price, given the quality of food, £20 for a main course Sunday roast, feels reasonable. An overall positive experience. Now excuse me while I go into a happy food coma.
Had high hopes after reading the reviews. We ordered 3 x beef roasts and were given 6 potatoes between three of us and one tiny cauliflower cheese. The beef was too raw for our liking and again, we were given three of the thinnest slices of beef. I wish I took a photo. I have give 2 stars as the waitresses were friendly, however, we did feel very rushed to leave at 5pm when we had a 3.30pm booking.
A big let down. Not food related. Just zero atmosphere. The rural landscape outside is beautiful and I was expecting a classic cosy Cotswold pub. Exactly the opposite. Not a trace of old-fashioned character or a hint of imagination or creativity in the choice of interiors. No fire-side armchairs or antique furnishings. Cheap pine furniture from some factory outlet. SUCH a shame. Even the fire gave out no heat. The staff seemed nice enough, although pretty serious, but I will not be going back as it was devoid of any kind of soul.
We had roast dinner here for mothers day. It's a nice venue and the food was well presented and arrived hot. The food was too salty and the gravy was watery. The pub had taken too many bookings for the numbers of staff and service was poor, food took 45 minutes to arrive but after an hour and a half we were offered our bill, 2 minutes after we had ordered puddings. Our table was booked and the people had to wait outside with their drinks whilst we finished. The bill arrived charging us £12.45 gratuity plus £15.56 service charge. A roast dinner for 4 people came to £152 and we were all driving so we drank mostly water! Very expensive, average food and poor service.
Now run by Phil and Nathan, we enjoyed a really superb Sunday lunch with friends. Food was cooked to perfection, the service was very good, the wine sensibly priced and the atmosphere was really friendly .Rooms: 5/5
Incredible fare for the Sunday roast. Three courses for £35. Will have to come back to sample the rest of the menuService: 5/5
On a planned dog walk to include The lamb as my lunch stop. Ordered open sandwich Welsh rarebit with cauliflower. Very disappointing, only one slice of bread and grayish slurry as topping with dry grilled sprouting broccoli as garnish. The broccoli just tested burnt and unappetising, the topping was mediocre with the mustard being the strongest flavour, priced at £15 an expensive let down. At no point was I asked how meal was hence putting this feedback on here.
What a lovely atmosphere to enter into. We booked a seat in the restaurant and very soon asked to change to the bar as it was such a great vibe. The staff were very accommodating and sorted it. Still serving Loose Cannon beer what is not to love. The food, considering how busy the place got, was always brought out at perfect timing, and was delicious. Very greedily, I went for the dessert too, which rounded the night and myself off perfectly. What lovely people they are, doing a fantastic job. All smiles and genuine. I highly recommend trying it for yourself
Visited this place it's under new management. Really amazing pub and even better food! Absolutely loved it! We weren't sure what we wanted so they did a mix of all the mains for us and everything was great - in particular the crab and the chips! Will definitely make an effort to visit again!
