Have to say on my arrival at 4.45pm I was surprised the place locked up. Had to ring to get in. It doesn't have much kerbside appeal, and there isn't a car park..A case of park where you can in the village. However my room although sparse was clean, in particular the bathroom. The electric shower was a pain to work. Runs cold or hot, in-between is a fine art, this was due to low water pressure in the village apparently. The bed was comfortable or was I just too tired to notice. I thought the prices were a bit stiff. No breakfast included in your £70 p/night, unless your happy to part with £12. The bar area and restaurant looked much better in the evening than it did in the afternoon gloom. Prices start at £20 for an evening meal, but glad the beer wasn't over priced. I think I would of scored it higher had there been a proper B&B option with brekky included albeit continental. Oh well it was for one night.
This place is lovely if slightly confusing , it is a village pub but it's also a gastro pub it's upmarket but down to earth it's all sorts of things , anyway the food is excellent , the service is good , the atmosphere is either mooted or lively depending on the night you visit but overall great experience.Food: 5/5
Amazing Food!!! We were surprised how tasty it was, with such a depth of flavour! If we’re ever in the area again, we will be visiting!!! The pub was dog friendly , so we could bring our little puppy too! Perfect!
We wish this was our local pub! A warm and friendly welcome and fabulous food, including a delicious vegan dishes mention when booking. Update: just returned from another visit - faultless as usual. We've been customers for nearly 9 years now, and always enjoy our visits. Update 3/23: We can't stay away. Dinner with friends last night, and booked in for Sunday Lunch next weekend. We love the food, service and ambience at the Eagle Tavern! Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options on the menu and vegan available - mention when booking and they will look after you. Kid-friendliness: Children welcome Parking: On-street parking. Usually OK
The food at the Eagle Tavern is some of the best pub food I have ever eaten. I came here for a evening meal with some family and we were not disappointed. The menu is pretty small which is usually a good sign and as a result between my group we ordered pretty much everything on it. Every single dish was brilliant, high quality ingredients cooked beautifully. I can highly recommend the Venison, very rarely do you get game cooked as nicely as it is here. The service was also excellent. The gentleman who was running the place was extremely helpful, attentive and friendly. I will definitely be back.
Rooms were standard but good size, old bathroom look with water spilling from the shower. We were told there would be a vegan breakfast but on the day, they didn't have it and it wasn't included in the price for the room. Free parking onsite. Overall ok stay.
felt like we were staying in someone's house. Very olden day looking not modern rooms. - locks on bathroom did not work, nor do blinds, shower door/barrier - no vegan breakfast available or not worth it for the price - beds not comfy had to flip the mattress - No water bottles in rooms - Spiderwebs all by the tv which was my view where I was sleeping by the bed
I had the best lamb ever...... And I'm 81! And now I'm 82 and the lamb is just as good. Today I had beef! Just as good!!Food: 5/5
Stopped in on a Tuesday night and had a fabulous dinner with the family. Lovely setting, delicious and creative food. Top service. Highly recommended.
We discovered this pub by chance, looking for somewhere to eat with a friend after a walk at nearby Badbury Clump. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection and good value for high quality. The service was attentive and it all felt very safe with tables well spread out in the garden.
