The property is being lovingly restored by the National Trust, and it now contains lots of Henry James memorabilia as well as materials about the earlier history of the building. The garden is a delight. The volunteers are very welcoming and knowledgeable. A lovely touch is vases of fresh seasonal flowers in many of the rooms.
It would help a great deal if this Trip Advisor page were updated, to say that THIS HOUSE IS ACTUALLY NOT OPEN AT ALL AT THE MOMENT.
Small house need not take lots of time, lovely garden and tea room. As usual with NT helpful happy volunteers.
Lamb House includes a lovely garden - the biggest area of green space in Rye, so if you're enjoying The but need some green space, give Lamb House a go. Make sure you check out the first domestic telephone in Rye as well, which has an audio sample too.
Very famous house in rye. Worth a visit if you can go when its open, but also beautiful from the outside so good to walk past and see the Henry James plaque outside too.
It helps to be interested in literary figures to really want to visit this house and in particular Henry James. The house itself is quite small with just six rooms that you can visit but it is quite charming. And the volunteers are very knowledgable about the inhabitants and the period. Also has the largest garden in Rye.
Splendid, and now even more now the Trust can exhibit the whole house and the tea shop in the court yard !
