Great location for a walk. Picturesque. Beautiful place to take your other half or family. Would definitely recommend. Even driving through is really nice.
This is a beautiful flat walk. We choose to walk here as it was a bit wet and didn't fancy a hilly walk. Lovely paths and scenery. We did 11 miles in 3.5 hours and was quite easy. Lovely help centre, toilets and food outlet
Beautiful place with amazing view. Great for long walk and best for a day trip. You will love the weather even it's raining. Suggestion: Don't forget to carry gloves and beanie.
Beautiful place to visit and just take a walk to take in the breathtaking scenery, must admit it's the lowest iv'e ever seen the reservoir. And the food at the yorkshire bridge inn is still amazing .
Lovely walk with fantastic views. Please note Snake road section of the lake is not suitable for push chairs as there is no proper path only a slight grass verge that's pitched with roots and brambles that makes walking along the path impossible.
A beautiful walk with beautiful views all round. The reservoir has some unique sites and lots places for stunning photos if you ever want a break from the world take in some peace and quiet in and around the reservoir.
A great low difficulty walking spot with fantastic views of the reservoir. Just don't make the same mistake I did. The pram friendly walk here goes from Derwent Dam car park around one fork of the Reservoir and not from the Heatherdene car park around the other fork. Still a good walk although probably not suitable for wheels and it's not a circular unless you return via the road where there is no footpath.
Here is madly beautiful in Spring. It is located between Manchester and Sheffield. There are two main roads which you can access to this spot. I used both, but I recommend using the road which you will pass from Castleton and Hope. It has much less traffic and also has much more scenery places to watch.
What an amazing photographic experience. This damm is was different and equine, I took had stayed for hours taking photos. Just a shame the water wasnt high enough to the see water flowing but still so very impressive. The walk from the car park is about 10mims and easy to get back to, just along the main road. I'd love to come back when the water is higher to see it in action.
Beautiful walk. We parked at Heatherdene car park, which is great if you want a very short walk to look at the nearest dam. We, however, wanted something longer so walked over the road bridge towards Snakes Pass and picked up the yellow walking trail from the end of the Viaduct which is clearly signposted. The yellow trail is a 9km circular route which is not too difficult to manage we were a group of 4 aged between 11 and a healthy 80. Halfway along the route is Fairholmes which has toilets and a lovely cafe with plenty of places to seat also a carpark. There you will find the Derwent Dam, as per photos. You can then choose to continue for a longer route or do as we did and head back to complete the yellow circular. That route from the Heatherdene carpark was roughly 12km in total.
