My husband and I were highly recommended here by our sister in law who lives locally. We booked a table for 6.30pm on Saturday night during Cat's Laugh. We shared the Gamberoni all aglio €8.90 and chicken wings €7.50 for starters. Delicious especially the Prawns. For mains we had the Linguini Gamberoni €14.90 and Penne al Pollo €12.90. Both were yum. For dessert, we had the Tiramisu and sticky toffee pudding at €5.90 each. Light and melt in the mouth. We shared a bottle of Rioja for €25.90. Overall very reasonable for Kilkenny, excellent food& efficient service. We'd highly recommend.
Gorgeous food. Staff are amazing. Lovely ambience with gentle Italian music. You know it's good when Italian customers are eating there too. Chef is very friendly and came to speak with us. Would definitely recommend La Trattoria and will definitely be back Food: 5/5
Really awful experience. We had booked this restaurant for 4 people a few days before arriving to Kilkenny. We were going for a hen party on the Saturday night but myself and three of the girls including the bride went down the Friday night. We gave the bride some badges and a head band. When we walked in the server went to the owner and said it's a hen party, he came out from the kitchen and said I don't have your booking, we explained it was just us 4 and we had booked. We had not had any alcohol and were just looking to get some food and a early night before the hen party the next day. He refused and said I'm fully booked when the restaurant was empty and he had confirmed on the phone a few days before. When I pointed this out he said it was his restaurant and he could refuse who he liked and he walked away. We were refused entry based on what we looked like. My friend the bride ended up removing her head band and we were all really upset that this was the reason. A decoration! Fair enough if we came in rowdy or drunk. But we were not, just 4 girls going for a meal. We found a much nicer Italian restaurant called Italian connection and the staff were lovely. I highly recommend reading all reviews three, two and one star!! Avoid, avoid, avoid!!!!
We ordered a starter and a pizza to share as we weren't hungry for a huge Italian meal. The owner was extremely rude and insulting when he took our order. We were met with, "it is 8 o'clock in the evening and this is what you are ordering? This is not a proper meal and we are not a snack bar". We said that's fine, we're leaving so. As we left he barked "ok bye bye then off you go to the snack bar". Absolutely outrageous carry on from a restaurant owner. Rude, insulting also embarrassing himself in front of other customers. Will never be back.
Would not recommend called to make a booking for 5pm as it’s states online that they open at 5pm, told that they would not be ready at 5pm so it would have to be later. Which then followed up with we do not share pizza, which I said was okay. “You sound very young so just so you know we do not share pizza”. I said that’s okay are group is in their 30’s. Very rude experience and very unprofessional. Did not go ahead with booking.

AVOID 11.80 Euros for two small Peroni beers. No price on menu and owner makes a huge profit. The unscrupulous old owner fleeces tourists.
An authentic Italian restaurant serving delicious pizza. The ratio of topping and cheese perfect and the crust was simple perfection! Italian wines were smooth and paired well with our food.
