I was in Milton Keynes visiting my new step family and was lucky enough to have the oppertunity to try some of the Indians in the area.  During my visit I came across this incredible looking Indian Tandoori called "The Jaipur" which almosted looked like a copy of the Taj Mahal maybe thats a bit of an exaggeration! - but seriously Google it!. Though i was told that this place served terrible food and was very expencive!  Being the only person not from the area i decided to take their word for it and let them take me to a place called "La Hind" which is a place situated at the train station of Milton Keynes.  From the outside this place doesnt look like much. Like alot of Milton Keynes it looks very new and sterile. Once you get inside however you are blown away by the amazing decoration, large bar and an impressive water feature with a huge chandelier hanging above. Nothing short of incredible.  To start with the service was good. 3 gentleman taking orders for the 12 of us and writing our orders down. However the time it took us to get our food came to well over an hour. Many of the orders were wrong and one of us asked for their food to be taken back and recooked, by the time he had his food everybody has finished. Clearly his meal was ruined.  The curry for me was very dry which made the chicken quite unenjoyable. I found alot of my rice was not even soaked in the sauce making the curry quite unplesant to eat. By the time i had finished i had left over rice which was wasted because i didnt want to eat it on its own. The curry was very mild and was luke warm by the time they got it out. I assume they cooked it first and left it while they were cooking everybody elses. I dont order a Vindaloo to be served something of a tinned curry temperature!  The person sitting next to me did however have some of the biggest and nicest looking Onion Bhaji's i have ever seen!  The price was quite expencive too. If this place was considered cheaper than The Jaipur then i dread to think what a meal there would cost. For two people having two curries, one rice, three papadums one Naan and two drinks came to well over £30 which in my books is very expencive and completely unacceptable!  I have been reassured that this was an unusual experience for La Hind and i should try the place again. Im not too sure i want to spend that kind of money to make sure!  At the end of the night the group decided to deduct money from the bill as the service charge was included in the price. They didnt seem to put up much of an arguement as our food took over an hour to come out, got many orders wrong and alot of the food was nearly cold.  Since this place is at the train station its easy for people from out of town to come visit and there is alot of parking around for free after 6. So access is easy. The place is beautiful on the outside and the staff were polite. However all the imporatn reasons for why we come for a meal were all wrong. The food was bad and clearly rushed, the service was slow and it was expencive.  La Hind seems to have a very good reputation in the area but i sadly have to rate this place on the experience i had.  2 out of 5.

Disappointed; expensive, poor service - no menu provided until requested., 1 king prawn only in a king prawn puree, hair found in dessert, liqueur coffee made with instant coffee and a 10% service charge.  Used to be a very good restaurant.  Definitely not the case now!!!

Really pleasant staff, wasn't cramped and the food was good. A bit pricey but I'd go back again.
