Story

Kota, meaning ‘shellfish’ in Maori, (chef Jude is half Maori, half Chinese Malay) is set in a 300 year old building, right on the harbour front of the historic village of Porthleven. From here, Jude works his culinary magic on the best local produce using his signature Asian twist.

One of the better restaurants in Cornwall I've been to. Brilliant and imaginative food. Good selection of meat or fish options. Nice options for wine. Is somewhat up market. They were very good in regards to intolerances and allergies even changing or excluding ingredients to suit. This really stood them out from other places I've been to. Pricing is decent considering quality of food but it isn't cheap. Service was amongst the best I've ever encountered.

This place never lets us down. Set menu this time, not cheap but it's obvious where the cost is going from taste and presentation. Bill never seems quite as high as I'm prepared for, which is good. Staff are professional without being overly formal, all good stuff.

Lucky to walk in. They just had a cancellation. Nothing was too much trouble. The amuse bouche was altered to accommodate my tomato allergy and the staff were discretely very attentive. The set price menu is very reasonable and they were happy to mix and match. The food was unbelievably delicious with lots of different flavours that were beautifully combined.

A fantastic well presented meal full of different flavours. The Colston Bassett ice cream with poached pears was exceptional. Staff very professional and informative. First time we had eaten at Kota but will definitely be back.
