Menu on the table list many a wonderful option, only to find when ordering over half are not available. Not one member of our party of three got their first choice. I was looking forward to the Steak Fondue Challenge. What I got was more of a disappointment than my first intervention It really is something when the best part of a meal is the small pot of sauce. Speaking of which, the beef dripping gravy was the colour and viscosity of melted Tesco Smart Price cheese slices, I didn’t touch it, it was wrong on every level. The picture in the menu, shows a tray brimming with chips, garlic ciabatta and 6 loaded potato skins, brimming with cheese, all precariously arranged around a 32 oz sliced rump steak. It looks so much food a funny glance could have it toppling off the tray without warning. What arrived was an abomination, the steak [was not 32oz by any stretch of the imagination,] it was a mini camembert and a few bits of wafer thin sliced pepper had been haphazardly thrown in a bowl, with what looked like not a care in the world for presentation. Clearly the cook doesn’t care what anybody thinks of his skills. Around this were the loaded potato skins, lukewarm and burnt, a portion of fries that would have been more fitting a childs meal and no garlic cabarita and finally the two pots of sauce. Our drinks arrived after the food, and only after we asked, with some mumbled excuse about a different order. One of my fellow diners complained about his chicken skewer being cold just to clarify cold was fridge cold, not had gone cold. The reply from, what was frankly staff who seemed to have just given up, was an apology “about that” after they had turned and started walking away. In all the staff and food are as bad as each other, one could even say compliment each other wonderfully. The complaints about the food are dealt with such, you are aggrieved by the staff and forget about the dreadful meal you had to pay up front for. Although there is no prize for completing any of the challenge meal, I have to wonder if they make them so bad you wouldn’t want to finish them so they can say most people fail? Truly the WammyBurger of pub food. I have attempted to email, but my email is blocked. I'm using my Gmail account, so it's either a blanket Gmail ban or specifically me.
Good for a regular pint. Decent selection of standard largers but a limited selection of draft ales. On the plus side the ice breaker which has recently appeared is a nice pint and the green king IPA is a good fallback. Food is standard green king sizzling menu food so will depend on the chef at the pub how good this is, our meal recently was average.
Came here for dinner and am happy to say food was fantastic. Served piping hot and quickly. My husband had a ribeye steak rare sounds simple but often cooked wrong It was cooked 2 perfection and he said just melted in his mouth. Went as far to say best steak he'd ever had whilst eating out. High praise indeed because he's a cantankerous git.
No complaints about the food or the staff. But the menu was very limited each time we went to order it wasnt on the menu. I suggest they put on a board what is available and scrap the menus until things get sorted. We got there in the end and thoroughly enjoyed what we had. Staff were very apologetic and helpful. But the most annoying thing was I have a blue light card that they except but not on the 2 meal deal unless I pay full price for them. Why bother excepting to allow the card in the first place I am appalled at the company for doing this. If I'd had my wits about me I should have paid separately for the 2 meals in the deal and paid using my blue Light card for the steak and chicken that were not included in the deals. So take heed anyone using a Blue light card. Use your noggin. Food an staff 5 star *****
Visited the Kings for a family meal, I had a rump steak that was cooked to perfection! I was served by 2 lovely ladies, who were extremely friendly and very attentive. I will definitely be visiting again in the future.
A great pub, always have wonderful service and food. I must say that Luke is so friendly, knowledgable and has great customer service, really makes our day when we visit! 5*
Waited over 45 mins to be told some of the order, sold out . Food arrived really cold. Which was a chicken dish .There was nails sticking out of table 2 sides of it we only noticed when grandson hurt his chest.. Was just awful , will never eat here again. Plus tho staff member was very opoligetic, and gave full refund .
Coming from the Isle of Man being charged £2.40 for a pint of a fairly decent pint of IPA was astounding! Lovely staff and a friendly atmosphere, what more could you ask.
Came here on New Year’s Day at around 3pm, waited for our drinks for an absurd amount of time which was 20 minutes, had to go to the bar to get them, there was only 4 people around the bar at the time, the staff here are as slow as turtles with no manners or etiquette, when our food arrived it was not only cold but it looked like something picked up from the road, never visiting again, if you want good food and fast and polite food and drink service I recommend you go somewhere else To summarise The food was 45 minutes late Food was cold Staff slow and ignorant Food was vile Edit of the review I just found a hair in my chicken, don’t get me wrong I know hospitality workers have it tough but how hard is it to maintain basic human hygiene and not she’d like a rat
Went for Xmas dinner with wife and kids food tasted amazing could of been bigger but ime just a food guy so bit greedy when something is nice highly recommend
