Came here for an early birthday meal with my best friend and had a few dishes from the small plates to a couple mains and a bottle of rose. The small plates were absolutely delicious chicken and rump cap pictured half finished because they were so good and also loved the clay pot glass noodles and the radish salad. The plaice was alright - nothing to call home about and the curry was also a bit underwhelming. But honestly the cost of everything was definitely good for 1 location 2 quality and 3 service. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come back I mean it’s in central London so not difficult but wouldn’t say no if a friend suggested a meal here in future. Wheelchair accessibility: It’s a very tight space and then stairs to the lower ground dining room; hard to imagine a wheelchair or individual with accessibility needs getting in easily here.
Absolutely fantastic Northern Thai food. I ate downstairs which is probably preferable in the summer away from the heat of the open coal fires. In the winter what an epic authentic experience. The service was attentive and our food arrived sporadically in good time. All the dishes were authentic and delicious. I would certainly not call this fusion food. It’s not fusing different types of food but more drawing from Nothern Thai and the Golden Triangle. I can’t really single anything out. Everything was fantastic and highly recommended. If you get a chance it’s definitely worth a visit. My biggest must is the noodles but that’s probably just my taste. Kid-friendliness: Only if you kid likes heat. The only non spicy dishes were the soy chicken, noodles and rice.
Food was truly delicious, with every single dish tasting amazing and well presented. The atmosphere is really cool as you sit at the counter in front of the kitchen. The staff is friendly and attentive; this time, Ollie greeted us and took great care of us. This is not your typical restaurant; they change the menu weekly, which makes every visit a unique experience. I will definitely be back next time and bring family and friends. I would suggest sitting on the ground floor rather than in the basement because the ambience is much better. I highly recommend booking in advance; if you walk in, the wait is usually an hour and a half to two hours. In our instance, we only had to wait 45 minutes, which was great.
We booked more than a month in advance, you could try walk in if you don’t mind an hour wait. It was quite crowded upstairs, if you sit by the bar you could watch the chefs cook but imagine it’d be very warm as well. we were sitting downstairs and it had a good atmosphere with dim light. Don't come here if you're looking for traditional Thai food, this place is more like a creative fusion Thai, and food they serve are small plates tapas style. Main menu is quite short changes seasonally, with a long list of drinks. From the dishes we ordered, most of they were *very* salty, if less salt, they would be amazing. Recommend: - Clay pot noodles, very nice thin glass noodles, full of flavour slightly salty, could do with rice - Lamb Skewer, perfect seasoning, very tender and juicy, should’ve ordered more - Raw Mutton Laap, salty, but interesting mix of herbs and good texture Do not recommend: - Jungle fish curry, very salty, tasted like preserved can fish and not fresh fish. Staffs were recommending rice to go with it, but I don’t think rice is gonna save it, it is dead salty. The sauce base also quite thin, not like a usual consistency for curry. Since portions were quite small, we each ordered a clay pot noodles and had the other dishes to share. The staffs were busy but attentive, your plates would be taken as soon as you're done with them, I guess they want a quick turn of tables - expect to sit in for roughly 1.5hour and then you probably have to go.
Great food, amazing service. What an experience. Definitely worth the wait booked it 3 months ago! Our favourites were the noodles and the greens, but the soy chicken was delicious too. If you are hungry like we were order around 6 plates for two, that will satisfy your hunger.Food: 5/5
Our go to restaurant when visiting London, our favorite. Really cool rustic Thai style restaurant in Soho. Amazing vibes with the kitchen in view, fire, woks and claypots. The service and food is tasty and you get that authentic Thai flavor. It’s small plates so great to share - our fav has to be the grilled soy chicken. It’s limited spaces so I’d recommend booking online or you’ll have to wait for walk ins text system. Prices are reasonable, esp for London. Definitely worth a try!
Fabulous early birthday lunch!! Amazing flavours and beautifully presented food. Had food envy seeing other diners orders so wanted to eat the whole menu. Delicious!!Food: 5/5
Big NO for a late night dinner. We booked Friday night at 10.30pm, it was the only hour available for that day. The menu was half unavailable, leaving us two main course options Ox Heart and chicken liver which we all know are strong flavors and left no further questions why they where available, to balance a little bit they served rice as a side, which was good and I dared to order half a bowl more, which I got the delightful answer from the waitress: it’s 1130 what time do you expect us to go and rest. So mates if you’re not able to handle the kitchen nor your staff at this night hours, please don’t offer this bookings. Really a distasteful experience. Chicken starter and salad was good, that’s it. The menu has changed and it’s not the best.
Kiln in Soho offers fusion flavors from Thai cuisine, but unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations. Overall, the dishes were quite salty and spicy, making it difficult to appreciate the flavors. The portions were small, served tapas-style. Aside from the Lamb Skewer and clay pot noodles, I wasn't impressed with the other dishes. As a result, I've removed it from my list of recommendations in London.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant and was thoroughly impressed. I sampled five dishes from the menu, and each one was bursting with flavor. The chicken dish, in particular, was so delicious that I couldn't resist ordering it twice. For food enthusiasts like myself, this place is a treasure trove of culinary delights that will leave your taste buds dancing with excitement. While most dishes were exceptional, I must admit that the Grilled Cull Yaw with Relish fell a bit short for me; the meat was a tad chewy. Service was top-notch, and the overall dining experience was definitely worth it. I do want to note that I arrived just 10 minutes before lunch opening and found myself leaving to a long line of eager diners waiting for a table. It's certainly worth the wait, but I'd recommend arriving early to avoid the queue.
