I bought the Owl experience for my daughters birthday and it was excellent. Charlotte was very knowledgeable and helpful. We learnt a lot and greatly enjoyed holding and flying the owls. Being surrounded by the other birds of prey hawks, buzzards and a falcon who were sunning themselves on perches really added to the whole experience. My daughter was so thrilled by the whole thing.
We had an owl experience with Kent Owl Academy and it was absolutely amazing! What a fantastic experience - we got to handle lots of owls for as long as we wanted to and even got to fly an owl as well which was magical. Nick was super knowledgeable, friendly and professional. It was an amazing experience and would definitely recommend. I want to do it again! Thank you!!!
Very informative and learnt new things about owls. The handlers were very knowledgeable and friendly. Well worth the money additionally the staff allowed guests to fly the owl, which as a lovely gesture. Nick the volunteer was good. Handling the spider was great to.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
The Kent Owl Academy is situated within Kent Life Heritage Museum Park but operates independently. Their Owl Experience is totally captivating for children and animals and you feel privileged to be in such close proximity with such beautiful creatures. The KOA team are young but extremely knowledgeable and professional they made sure we all got time with the lovely owls and taught us about their habits. Wonderful experience for families- highly recommended
My nine year-old son found this experience fascinating, holding and befriending the owls, learning lots of interesting information about their lives and the value of the Academy. The team were so helpful, and the guide so knowledgeable and skilled with the owls. The highlight for my son was when the bird flew to his gloved hand on several occasions. I would definitely recommend this experience and highly commend the helpers and volunteers at the Academy for the valuable work they are doing and for providing such an intersting and informative, unrushed hour. Thank you so much, Steve
My partner and I were lucky enough to visit for the owl experience due to a cancellation during our few day getaway. We had a fantastic time meeting and holding some of the owls here. The experience was brilliant, and Ed was full of knowledge. He let us handle each owl for as long as we wanted to before progressing to the next, and we even got to fly one between us in the flying ground. The owls were all comfortable with us and had their own little personalities - clearly enjoying being handled outside of their well-kept aviaries.
I was really looking forward to this experience but wasn't very impressed to be honest. The vast majority of the time was spent just holding the owls rather than flying them, and although I was able to ask a few questions, Head Keeper Syl mostly just waffled on about the various injuries they'd sustained in their work and spoke negatively of other similar local businesses unsolicited. Volunteer Shannon had to be promoted by Syl to hand the owls to me and seemed more keen to hold them herself! She also "told off" some of the owls for making noises or defectating, but seemed to prefer others. We received conflicting information about whether I needed a ticket to Kent Life to visit the rest of the attraction. I was prepared to buy one but the ticket office at Kent Life said neither I nor my family needed one, but I was then escorted off the premises after the experience with my family elsewhere. Again, i was told I'd have to pay for my husband and daughter to spectate and my four year old wasn't old enough to handle the owls, which I understand but towards the end of the experience Syl and Shannon said they would have been able to watch for free. I just didn't find the experience very professional, although I enjoyed the 10 minutes or so of flying time at the end!

Absolutely amazing! The experience was unforgettable, loved flying the owls and meeting all the animals. My niece was brought around by Molly and Sabian; they were both incredible with the birds and reptiles and their knowledge with all of the animals made it seem even more of a personal encounter. All of the volunteers are so lovely, definitely recommend for all ages.
Had the owl and meerkat experience which was brilliant thanks to a warm welcome from Charlotte and excellent session with Molly who was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Molly's enthusiasm and care for all creatures is impressive and we would definitely recommend this experience we were in quiet woodland behind the owlery
