This is in a part of Brighton just off The Lanes that seemed to be becoming a bit run down but this restaurant has improved things quite a bit. They now have three large glass pods outside in a glass screened area and we were disappointed to find that these had to be booked so we went inside. Inside is very spacious but I think it would be very noisy if all or most of the tables were in use. However this was Monday lunchtime and not very busy. Actually very glad we didn't get a pod as there were heavy showers and you don't really want wet food. Actually the pods have three or four tables each so you don't get exclusive use unless you have a large party. As for the food; well, not bad but pretty average and the one item I wanted from a fairly restricted menu was not available so had to make do with chicken. Rather expensive food and drinks especially when the "optional" service charge of 12 1/2 % was added. Overall we paid nearly £50 for a pretty average lunch for two. Service was also a bit hit and miss. We probably won't go again as there are better and cheaper places in Brighton.
Warm, welcoming environment. Excellent food, with real variety including in the vegetarian options. The Creme Brulee was deemed by my mother as "up there" in quality compared to others she has had.
We took our chances for an early 5.30ish dinner on Saturday. The lovely staff squeezed us in before the 7 o’clock rush. Its was lovely and quiet before they turned the music on and the tables started to fill up. Food was very tasty, beer was Ok and shame we had the wobbly table! Very comfy other than that. The restaurant is very smart and its a shame the staff don’t have a uniform to match!
Was expecting great things - feels like a hotel bar/restaurant with no atmosphere. Too bright you could operate on an Alsatian, staff quite heavy handed during serving. Only 1 decent champagne on the menu and the actual menu is a little bit of everything so quite varied for different people - I had the crab linguine which was ok. Might be a better daytime restaurant then the evening had no drama to it. Shame really.
OK not bad at all, English run I suspect, prices to match. New potatoes? in a Thai curry, nothing more exotic.. but quite delicious. Pricey £30 for gyoza dumplings curry rice 2 drinks. Maybe I'm from up North and not used to Savoy prices. There are more economic options round here.
I love this place and always have. I miss the som tum that used to be on the menu as that + their steamed rice was in my top all time favourite dishes. I've tried som tum from countless places and none came close- please bring it back one day! my alt is the tofu pad thai thai hot and never lets me down, the best takeout option in brighton imo!
I used to eat here a lot, as the food is so delicious and the portion sizes were excellent. A few years ago, the prices went up from £6/7 to £10 a dish!! most of the time the food is of excellent quality, but occasionally you get a bland poor quality dish. We tried again last night, taste is amazing, but they have halved the portion size as well!!! It puts me off buying here when your not guaranteed to get the same each time and a takeaway for two will cost >£30!
Gaeng Andaman curry was gorgeous. Perfectly spiced, full of flavour and substantial the 'spicy' option seems to be what I'd call 'medium'. Much better quality than most. Thanks guys for the great food.
Food was lukewarm, cardboard containers.... really!! For food in a runny sauce cardboard containers useless, the sauce had made a hole in container which proceeded to leak out all over the motorhome, hardly any left by the time i got it on the plate, spoiled the meal which I could tell would have been nice if it was hot and hadn't leaked everywhere!
Great food. We had the vegetarian pad Thai and can strongly recommend. We were given a delivery time of 50 minutes but it was less than 40. Thank you for a good dining experience.
