KARMA BREAD: The Friendliest Bakery in London A few days ago, after visiting my sick grandmother at the Royal Free Hospital, my sister and I left feeling quite down. On our way out, a kind lady from a nearby bakery, Karma Bread, offered us a bag of pastries. It lifted our spirits immediately. The bread was soft, and the pastries were mouth-watering, which my family devoured quickly. Despite the exhaustion, we all agreed the baked goods were delicious. Two days later, I revisited Karma Bread before another hospital visit. Located just three minutes from the hospital, it’s a spot many people in similar situations frequent. I had a lovely conversation with the staff, who were used to interacting with people feeling low. My grandmother, who can’t eat gluten or dairy, was thrilled with the almond and orange cake they had for her. It was a sweet escape from the hospital food, and I highly recommend anyone visiting a loved one nearby to stop by Karma Bread for a treat. A few days later, I returned for breakfast. I had a tuna and cucumber sandwich made with soft, freshly baked bread and a perfectly prepared decaf latte with beautiful coffee art. Afterward, I spent three hours drawing the café's interior, enjoying the warm, welcoming atmosphere, the smell of fresh coffee and bread, and conversations with the staff and patrons. The bakery is also an ideal spot to pick up bread for a picnic in nearby Hampstead Heath. Despite a hand injury, I created some of my best artwork during this visit. The café’s inspiring ambiance pushed me to create, and once done, I left the drawing with them, feeling satisfied. On my final visit, four days before my grandmother left the hospital, I sampled their hot food. The shakshuka was one of the best I’ve had in London, full of rich, exquisite flavors. Their bread and butter pudding, paired with a flawless latte, was creamy, soft, and perfectly heated. In all my visits, I found the staff’s smiles, kindness, and excellent service uplifting. They make everyone feel like family. During my third visit, I was touched to see them celebrating a colleague’s birthday—just one more example of their warm, positive culture. While I don’t think they often give away free food, Karma Bread certainly spreads good karma, and I hope life rewards them in return Vegetarian options: I didn't have anything Vegetarian, however they defiantly have Vegetarian options. Dietary restrictions: They were very incentive to my dietarily restrictions. Kid-friendliness: I saw how they handle kids within their establishment and I can tell they are highly friendly.
A quaint and homey cafe right opposite hampstead heath station with a wide variety of bakes ranging from cute little hedgehog buns, to challa bread, filled custard doughnuts, cube croissants, and sandwiches though the sandwiches are only ready around 9am if im not wrong Ducked into the shop one rainy morning and thoroughly enjoyed the coffee which wasnt too acidic. There were a few seats both outside and inside, so I was lucky enough to find an empty table inside. There were many people popping in to get their morning coffee along with a simple breakfast. The staff were absolutely amazing. They were professional but also so at ease and comfortable that it made the cafe feel even warmer and more welcoming.
So good I forgot to take a photo of my order !we got iced latter, 2 spicy tuna and egg sandwiches and raisin cinnamon bun. So tasty and a buzzing atmosphere. Service was a bit slow but understandable as was very busy.Food: 5/5
In a word: Delicious. If you like a good bakery this is definitely worth checking out. Do yourself a favor and try the Chocolate Babka!Food: 5/5
Nice enough member of staff but I don't like the fact that this coffee shop dosnt let it's paying customers to sit outside and smoke a cigarettewith a coffee??! Granted its the owners right to run her establishment as she wishes I'm respectfull of that. However maybe a large notice stating such, should be shown in a window for mutual respect, so smokers can be aware of this prior and perchance a coffee one door up instead, where it is aloud.
4.5 stars! came here to get the insta croissant cube but they had sold out!! Will reserve one next time...which is a good thing to know. The staff were lovely and said I should try a different shaped croissant this time and went for berries and cream, it looked so pretty...did think it was pricey for a takeaway but my oh my that first bite and then the rest...absolutely yummy! Will be back to sample more
What a lovely bakery serving both sweet and savoury. Busy. The staff were super helpful in suggestions and with a smile. There is a very good selection across savoury and sweet so hard to choose. That little lemon meringue pie was lovely. Would come again.
So so good. The bread is unreal. Treat yourself to a cinnamon bun and babka.Food: 5/5
This is a local independent lovely bakery located in the heart of South End Green. They bake their bread and delicious sweet pastries daily. They serve a really tasty cheese toastie and banana bread which I would highly recommend, it was so popular that today when I arrived they were completely sold out of the two! The staff are incredibly welcoming, caring and warm. They have a huge selection to pick from and are conveniently located, you must try if you are in the area!
Nice bakery with warm interior design but inside is very narrow and busy especially on a weekend. While in the queue, it was hard to stay in the right place. Bakery delivery was happening, so it was extra crowded. But, bakeries looked good! I had the cardamon bun, which was nice. They asked us to wait outside but after they forgot our coffees or gave the priority to dine-in customers. So, I can say the service is a bit disorganised when busy. But, coffees were okay. The store location is good.
