Story

A Dundee pub will finally open its doors next year after standing empty for more than two years. Work has started on the new addition to JD wetherspoon hotel chain. Architects described the plans as “a mix of a traditional bar with some modern twists”. There will be a 13-bedroom extension to the hotel, increasing the number of rooms on the hotel’s first and second floors to 25. Ferry councillor Laurie Bidwell said “Like many folk in Broughty Ferry, I am pleased Jolly’s will be reopening in the spring. The hotel premises have hung around empty for a while and the buildings have been looking a bit forlorn.


We will be keeping the name as Jollys Hotel which is due to open in March

I recently visited Jolly’s Hotel – JD Wetherspoon and had an excellent experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was lively but comfortable, and the venue itself was clean and well-presented. Food and drinks were great value for money, with plenty of choice on the menu, and everything arrived quickly and exactly as ordered.nnWhat really stood out to me, however, was the level of service. I was looked after by a staff member called Lana, and she was absolutely brilliant. She was friendly, approachable, and went out of her way to make sure everything was perfect throughout my visit. It’s rare to come across staff who genuinely make you feel welcome, but Lana certainly did that.nnOverall, I left feeling very impressed. Great prices, a pleasant environment, and outstanding customer service – particularly thanks to Lana. I’ll definitely be coming back again soon, and I’d happily recommend Jolly’s Hotel to anyone in the area.
I had booked this hotel for one night for myself and my partner. Unfortunately there was a death in the family and we could not attend. Because it was company policy they refused to give us a refund and this lack of compassion shows you the caliber of the management. We will never use this hotel if we return to the area in the future. I even requested weatherspoons vouchers but they declined to offer this. Absolutley disgusting from the management. The manager did not even have the time to discuss personally and sent one of the staff to do her dirtywork. Disgusting. Shame on you. No compassion or care for your customers.
Visited here on 6th November with family, Decided to have an all day Brunch £12.25. with black pudding which I really enjoyed. So went to Perth and thought I would try another Brunch in the Capital Asset Wetherspoons to my surprise this was only £8 with an add on of black pudding , a difference of £4 per person which I found strange
Our third visit to Jolly’s at The Ferry.nI have to comment on the ‘room cleaning’, our stay from 7th-10th November 2025, toilet rolls not replenished, also tea bags, milk, biscuits - none replaced. Beds not made, even teaspoons taken away and not replaced? Management, what is going on?nOverall we liked Jolly’s location, staff are friendly and helpful BUT what is happening to the servicing of the rooms?
Stayed 1 night. Lovely little town and hotel room and food and drink were excellent value and good quality. Staff were also very friendly and helpfull. Would stay again.
