We have used John O'connor & Son on numerous occasions now, and we cannot thank them enough. Nothing is too much trouble, everything is above and beyond what needs to be done and we couldn't be more grateful to Steven and the team for everything they do. Anything to make the whole process as personal and as comforting as possible they will do without hesitation. The compassion, dignity and respect they have shown family and friends is second to none and we will be forever grateful for that in the most painful of times.
Steven and Karla are completely professional and let us say goodbye to our dearly missed father. Service couldn’t have went any better and I’m proud Steven and Karla conducted it.
I dealt with this funeral directors back in 2019 and have left positive reviews on all platforms possible apart from google it seems so here goes after my mums sudden passing in June 2019 I didn’t know where to go or what to do as I had never had to deal with such an experience before this my mother in law put me in touch with Steven who couldn’t have been anymore caring and compassionate if he tried. After the polava with police and fiscal I didn’t know where my mother body was or what was happening after 20 minutes with Steven he found out where she was and took steps from there to bring her into his care. I was offered to visit my mom at the mortuary at the hospital and had asked Steven to attend as I wasn’t in anyway prepared never being in a place like that it reassured me having him there he took proper steps to ensure my mothers body was in a state to view and that she hadn’t started decaying etc. Everything was never too much from the minute we were in contact I could contact him whenever. Once my mother was in John O’Connor’s funeral directors care everything was seemless he had my mother viewing ready within the day which helped a lot of family members. He simplified the list of things that were needing to prepare her for her final journey down the last detail. He helped choose flowers and arranged the celebrant to come visit myself and my family at my home to discuss my mother’s life and from there we got to the big day. The funeral we had arranged for my mother to leave from her home address fitting seeing as it was her final journey a beautiful convoy of clean modern cars arrived Steven greeted the family before explaining what would happen next he done my mother so proud and treated her with the respect and care I would have given her myself. I have to disagree with previous reviews given that Steven is unprofessional and uncaring I also find it ludicrous that someone even went as far to say he was somewhat creepy towards females this isn’t the man I met and still to this day I see and speak to while I’m passing his establishments. If you are looking for a funeral director who knows compassion and doesn’t see you as a cashcow then look no further than Steven and his team and John O’Connor funeral directors. They are family run and know how important it is that your every need and want is met. I would highly recommend
Steven and his late father have cared for 3 of my loved ones my gran uncle and Dad I felt nothing but kindness and compassion when I was making arrangements for my fathers funeral last year would like to thank Steven for his professional service highly recommend
Unfortunately I can’t recommend Steven who’s now running this Funeral Home. We had used them previously when it was ran by his father, John, however this funeral was filled with errors, sloppy handling & inappropriate comments and actions which made a distressing experience so much worse. It’s the small things, the attention to detail, that was missing. The flowers weren’t brought to the church with the coffin causing upset and confusion to those who had bought flowers. As we drove to the church we passed by an empty hearse pulling into the funeral home to collect my mum’s coffin, so it was clear he was going to be late. He arrived late and blamed the traffic. My card that I wrote to go on the flowers & my fathers too, were lost which was devastating, and he made no effort to find it. “I don’t no where these went” is a typical unprofessional text message. Order of service was littered with errors & dumped in church getting wet under the handgel dispenser and I had to ask him to move them as I arrived at church. There were many other issues & it was exhausting hearing constant apologies & how it was always someone else’s fault, but on a positive he did apologise and always try to resolve the issues. He seemed a nice person, and trying hard but just hugely out of his depth & lacking in professionalism. I hope he learnt from our funeral and improves - as I wouldn’t wish our funeral on anyone. Update 31/10 - upon reading the comment above Steven texted me “I strongly advise you take your negative comments down b4 I contact you sic dad”. A threatening tone & saying he was going to contact a grieving husband to put pressure on him to remove an accurate but negative review of his service. So I’m posting it here and everyone can make their mind up if actually he is a nice man or not.
Very impressive caring and professional service from the initial meeting with Stephen his professionalism and empathy shone through Nothing was too much trouble his advice and organisation was commendable He arranged for the humanist Dougie to visit again he was a gentleman and his narration capturedLewis perfectly The service and arrangements were carried out with dignity compassion and thoughtfulness I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend O’Connor’s funeral service to family and friends
Cannot recommend this company highly Enough! came out right away on the Sunday and took my Mum into there care . Helped me with ideas etc. First class for service, price and compassion.Big thanks to John O'Connor and His superb Team!
Would highly recommend them they are one of us they can relate to everything as they are local people they're amazing.
