It seems the new owner has had a good influence on the restaurant as the bacon burger was delicious, the southern fried chicken burger was both crunchy and juicy. The chips were a bit tasteless but they provided plenty of salt and mayo so I could rectify that myself. The speed of service was good and they provide a buzzer so you are not tied to the restaurant while waiting for it to be cooked. The pricing is good, comparable to a pub, which is great considering they are the only show in town and have you captive to them.
Ate here our first night upon arriving in St Ives. Restaurant is small, pleasant and clean. The staff were very friendly and patient with us whilst we struggled to decide what to eat - we were beyond hungry at this point and couldn't make our minds up. The choice of food was very good and varied; something for everyone. There were five of us in our party and we all enjoyed our food very much. You could tell that the food was all freshly prepared, even down to the coleslaw, and tasted lovely. The fish was lovely and a very good sized portion; the burger were also large and very much enjoyed; three of us had the chicken selection which included spicy wings, chicken pieces etc - it was full of flavour and very filling. We all left very happy and with full tummys. Nice setting and nice food.
Overpriced for what you get, microwaved cheese on the burger, loud music, poor customer service. Menu holders were dirty along with other items, overall would recommend you eat somewhere else. Returned a year later to find not much has changed, although the staff are more helpful and polite, it still remains the food is not at it's best, waited almost a hour for three burgers and a pizza. The bacon in the burgers was very well done burnt, no BBQ sauce on the new Yorker burger but would have been an expectation based on the name of the burger. The pizza was on a wrap and not pizza base, chicken thrown on top and was very dry. Also found the chef to make up the food to then go out the back for a smoke in his uniform to then return to the kitchen to go ahead and prepare yet more food for paying customers, a poor example of food hygiene in the kitchen.
What a joke. I went to order food for my family and the restaurant was shut at 7:45 pm. Just like the on sight supermarket they seem to pay no attention to advertised opening hours and shut when they feel like it. Wouldn't be so bad but the place is in the middle of nowhere so no chance of finding an alternative place to eat. Don't stay here they are rubbish..
Not great food at all for the cost. Burgers are horrible, processed meet and chicken rubbery and dry. Better to go into St Ives and get a takeaway or cook yourself. A real waste for a nice holiday village.
