Visited Jane's lovely shop many times. It's worth going just for the shop.. it's like stepping back in time!nWhilst inside, there are an array of blankets in every direction. If you can't find a Welsh blanket you want, then it probably doesn't exist!
Visited Jane in the summer. What a wonderful collection of blankets. She was very friendly and helped me pick out a new tapestry bed cover for my living room and bedroom. Pug Binkie was also a highlight !!
I have chosen to give a one start review simply because zero wasn’t an option unfortunately.nnStarting from the beginning I sent an enquiry through the Facebook page of “Jane beck Welsh blankets” for a blanket they had posted on there Facebook wall.nnThe first question I asked was if the blanket had any Damage, stains or pet hairs on it. I received a reply stating there was no damage, it was vintage and no stains or pet hair or in other words perfect condition.nnI then proceeded to purchase the blanket via bank transfer to her sons account weird if you ask me as I expected a business account I’ll let you make your own assumptions of why this was….nnUpon arrival of the blanket almost right away we noticed multiple loose threads/pulls on the blanket and also the colour didn’t look the same.nnThe blanket advertised looked bright and clean but the one I received was dull, faded or otherwise washed out in my opinion. Now granted I am in no way a blanket specialist or dealer this is why I asked the relevant questions prior to the purchase.nnThe same day the blanket arrived I messaged the Facebook page back explaining that the blanket has damage and wasn’t as explained asking for a refund.nnThe only reply I received was that the blanket was 50 years old and they all have damage although I was told there was none.nnI messaged a couple more times with question marks and asking for a response to get this issue resolved. Then to my surprise I didn’t get a reply but I got blocked so I could no longer message there page.nnI proceeded to call the mobile number supplied online to discuss this further this didn’t end well the reply I was given verbally on the phone was that no refund will be offered as I should have the knowledge to know that all Welsh blankets have damage as they are vintage. I proceeded to explain this isn’t fair I’m no expert in these blankets and can only go on the information given from the so called profession sales person I spoke to via Facebook messenger.nnThe lady with the attitude on the phone also stated that we shouldn’t buy through Facebook as this is just to much hassle for her although they advertise on there….. I then asked why advertise on Facebook if you don’t want to sell on there her reply was because travellers are to incompetent to use a website I’m not a traveller I replied I’m not a traveller so I’m not sure why you have told me this but I don’t think that it’s fair to make that assumption toward a full race of people.nnThe terms and conditions on your website clearly state we have a right to return the product and cancel the contract providing we exercise the right clearly prior to the end of the 14 day cooling off period consumer contracts regulations 2013.nnAlso very clearly stated at the bottom of your terms and conditions it says. “ if your goods has have fault not described you can return it within 30 days or purchase and we will refund or exchange it for you. So I’m not sure why I haven’t received my refund these are your terms stated on your website not mine.nnI have screenshots and evidence of everything wrote here and I will be attaching these to this review in the following week if the issue isn’t resolved.nnI have also contacted citizens advice as this is a clear breach of consumer contracts regulations 2013.nnI purchased this blanked through my daughter as I don’t use Facebook or any form of online purchasing.nnSo to summarise be careful when ordering online or on the phone as they will promise you a blanket without blemish or issue, send you a damaged product or in my opinion a different product from the photos and then offer no refund or solution. I’m now £200 out of pocket for a blanket I wouldn’t have paid £50 for in person.
*SEASONAL HOURS: give a call if you’re making a long trip!nnI had such a pleasant experience in Jane’s shop as I had planned a road trip around South Wales with the plan to stop in for a Welsh Blanket. Upon arrival I noticed the shop had a sign posted indicating the shop was doing seasonal hours with a phone number to call. I did get in touch with Jane and she kindly made arrangements to meet me at the shop same day.nnThere’s an incredible selection, some newly made and some vintage blankets. Jane was so patient and took the time to give me some history on each blanket I asked about - even offered a cup of coffee while I browsed! I quickly came to appreciate it really is part shop and part museum of Welsh textiles. I couldn’t be more thankful Jane opened up shop for me - if you are doing a road trip and plan to stop in, be sure to get an appointment or call ahead at the least, you’ll be glad you did.nnThanks again Jane!
Bought a vintage blanket online from Australia. It was delivered within a week and is in truly immaculate condition - looks like it has never been used! A beautiful rich, warm fabric in gorgeous autumnal colours, it looks even better than its online photographs. I am now dreaming of visiting the shop in person!
