This is a nice DLR station. I went here and was satisfied with my experience. I got off of the DLR onto this station’s island platform. This platform is connected tot he surface by one staircase from one end of the platform, and this splits in two near the top. Outside the station is a cafe, some houses, and the entrance to the Greenwich Foot Tunnel. I gave this DLR station five stars because it has a nice easy to navigate layout.
Busy station at peak times...nnThe new Island Gardens station is one of few that's based underground due to the Lewisham extension.nnThe station has one entry point, but has two stairways up and down for a better flow of traffic i'm guessing.nIt has two ticket machines and a little information/help desk stationed here too.nnMillwall Park is right outside the station, George Green's School is on the opposite side of the road and most noticeably, Greenwich Foot Tunnel North.nnThere are local buses nearby, bus stops Island Gardens Stop D and J which caters to the bus D7, which starts/ends from Poplar/All Saints Church to Mile End, the 135 which starts/ends from Crossharbour Asda to Old Street Station Moorfields Eye Hospital and the N550, which starts/ends at Trafalgar Square to Canning Town Station.nnIf you walk down a little, there's the bus stop, East Ferry Road Stop B, where you can catch the route 277/N277, also starting/ending at Isle Of Dogs Asda to Dalston Junction Station White Lion Street - N277.nSame for bus stop Millwall Park Stop L.nnNot bad.
Well lit and spacious platform. No gates or turnstiles so don’t forget to tap in and out at the top of the stairs before heading down to the platform.
I had an encounter with Shirley the supervisor and she was so helpful and really made my journey and getting a refund/transfer wrong purchased ticket. She made me feel like she cares about my case.
Good Station clean and tidy with lifts and always a good service here.
