Story

In 1981 Intaglio Printmaker opened in London as a brave new venture for its Australian owners who had personal interests in the UK.

Karyn White initially came over from Australia on behalf of the owners to set up the first shop in Newington Causeway SE1. Following a challenging year rebuilding a derelict warehouse and launching the shop, it was time to call in Christine Munton (the first Brit in the business!) to do the book-keeping and keep a check on the finances.

In 1988, after a move to the Angel, Islington, Karyn and Christine bought the business from the Australian partners.

Two moves later have returned us back to SE1 in Southwark.

Great range of inks & oils, vinyl, rollers & tools. Lovely staff, despite my barrage of questions & queries. I could do mail order but shop is a pleasure to visit, in a little cobbled alley.
stumbled on this while wandering the streets, a delightful and well-stocked shop tucked away. extremely helpful and patient staff
Perfect for everything you need to create your own prints, helpful staff too. Busy little shop
Ordered for the first time this week and my parcel has just arrived. Beautifully wrapped with great care, it felt like Christmas Day opening it. Paper is gorgeous too. Thank you so much.
Very well stocked printmaking shop. Friendly and knowledgeable staff helped me find what I needed. Recommended
Difficult to locate as in an alleyway and downstairs but after walking around in a circle a few times I found it at last. Lots of great supplies for the printmaker to buy! Only issue is that vat is added when you buy things so the price displayed is without vat.
Knowledgeable staff but hard to extract information! Stony cold sales assistant and time will tell if I’ve bought the right stuff. Visiting a shop is invaluable when researching new ways of working so why not warm up a bit and contribute to the voyage. When you do we can learn from one another..... The internet is only good when you know what you want.
Very helpful staff and well stocked shop
Expert advice when I dropped by for A-level material 12 years ago, expert advice when I returned for a second wind last week. There's something magical/lost-in-time about this basement yes, basement, easy to miss.
Very helpful staff and enormous variety of materials. Great place to visit if you are a printmaker or artist
