Stayed here for a midweek break and the staff are so friendly and helpful. Food was very good from breakfast to evening meal.nOnly reason for 4 star on room was it could of done with a chest of drawers to put clothes in. Hanging space was provided but needs drawers too. The room was spotless and well stocked.nVery good value for money.
My room was comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was great, and the water is as expected in the Peak District delicious, which meant that the coffee was very nice. I would have appreciated a few more toiletries in my bathroom conditioner, in particular! but otherwise it was a well-appointed room, which I very much appreciated after a long day walking.
Room was very nice and clean, stairs for me were a bit steep leading up to the room and hand rail was a bit narrow. Pub toilets downstairs would not flush especially after continued use due to a small stampede after a concert at the peak cavern! Received notification prior to visit that car park could not be used due to external work, so used public car park and paid a kings ransom for that, only to find out that the car park at the hotel/pub could be used, but refund is hopefully on its way! Think the costs were on the high side for accommodation and thought the food menu was pricy, so we ate somewhere else at a lower cost.
We had a lovely stay here for 1 night. Clean room, comfy bed and plenty of tea/coffee. Although the car park for the pub is small, I did get parked. Fabulous location. Beautiful pub with a friendly relaxed atmosphere. Although we didn’t eat here, the food smelt and looked delicious. I was particularly looking forward to breakfast, having had a few drinks the night before celebrating my 40th birthday. However, the pub experienced a burst pipe in the kitchen which led to a flood and kitchen closed. This was totally out of their control. The gentleman on shift along with the chef were very professional and gave me a full refund on our breakfast as we’d prepaid for this. I look forward to staying here again and tucking into a breakfast.
Good - the staff, all charming and helpful. The bed was very comfortable and the room was pretty clean on the whole.nThe location.nWe were offered tea, coffee and juice in the morning even though we hadn’t booked breakfast.nDisappointing- the whole building covered in scaffolding and workmen busy before 8.30am, which also made parking problematic on arrival. No warning via email.nAfraid the sink in the bathroom emptied only in super slow motion/there were none of the promised toiletries other than the handwash in the dispenser. We are not large people but it was very cramped in the bathroom.nNeeded a replacement hairdryer as the first didn’t work.nOverall, lovely staff, great location but it was hard to believe that the scaffolding was all erected by 5pm on Thursday and that it had been impossible to email guests in advance even on the day, if it was unexpected on the Thursday?.nWe felt that the £288 we were charged was pretty steep considering all of this.
