Locally owned and locally loved, IL Bistro is the original bistro in the lanes.
A family run steakhouse brasserie that specialises in the best available British Beef, prime cut meats and seafood dishes.

IL Bistro has worked with local food suppliers since 1976
and prides itself on being one of the longest serving independent restaurants in Brighton.

Set in a fisherman's cottage which dates back to the 18th century in the reign of George I the restaurant is situated in the heart of the lanes in Market street and is within walking distance from the beach, Churchill square, the Royal Pavilion and the Theatre Royal and is open for pre theatre dining, breakfast and lunches seven days a week.

Lovely find. Food fresh and tasty. Reasonable price. Quick, friendly, attentive service. I’d go again anyway.

Lovely restaurant. Went there for my partners birthday and despite everything being a little quieter in Brighton at the moment, the service and food were great and we were well looked after. Definitely go here!

Lovely little place in the heart of the lanes, gorgeous food, very hospitable irish owner, we chatted for ages. Funny bloke! Thoroughly enjoyed it and great value for money. Steak was outstanding, as was the chicken & goats cheese. Let's face it... the way to a girls heart is a free limoncello at the end of the meal 

I had a fantastic meal and time. The food was amazing and could recommend to go there more often. Thank you to the team.

Thank you for being so accommodating to a person with the coeliac's disease. It's difficult to find places that are so helpful. I had the most wonderful breakfast plate of poached eggs, bacon, spinach and mushrooms, all delicious and all gluten free without cross-contamination.

Warm, friendly welcome at this lovely restaurant. My sister and I shared a starter of crepe with prawns and spinach. I had a chicken fillet from the special board for my main. Beautifully cooked - blue cheese and mushroom sauce, tasty and not overpowering. Highly recommend.

Went here for a lunch after shopping in the lanes. Great place to eat and very reasonably priced.  Would highly recommend as 2 of us ate 2 courses with drinks for less than 40.00. Will be back next time in Brighton.

Great food and service. Also the set menu is excellent value.
