Very basic accommodation so if you just want somewhere to sleep, shower and store your stuff it's perfect
It's ok but very run down and doesn't feel like it's set up to cater for 21 century students at one of the best university in the world! There's shared bathrooms, the furniture is tatty, it doesn't have a TV or anything. However, it does have character! It is run by helpful staff. It also will be of great benefit to students on a low budget, who might not otherwise be able to afford accommodation in London. They also rent classrooms to groups. I was a teacher. The classrooms are poorly laid out, some are tiny. The boards have pen marks on them and are far too small. Do make sure your group gets the best classroom. There is one main room that is set up with a modern whiteboard that is 100 X better!
Good location, good price for London, bed is also good. Kitchen is too small for the whole floor, and there was no microwave. Room is so dim that you could hardly see at night even with light on. Food is not great but you have something to eat and it's included in your rent. Good Italian restaurants around, there's also McDonald's and Subway if you wanna grab a quick meal. Bus stop is just downstairs but try going to UCL in the morning, it'll take you thirty minutes until you get on a bus because they're all crowded with people going to school or going to work.
As a parent with a child staying here, its really OK. The rooms are as I expected. A little small but functional. She's in a twin room. Two good sized desks, two comfortable chairs, two comfortable beds as well as a wardrobe/chest of drawers each. Even a clean basin. The kitchen is well kitted out and given to the students in a very clean condition. The same with the toilets/showers which are something you'd expect to find in a leusurevcentrem its close to amenities too. Whilst Camden is generally a filthy toilet if a place, the halls are located in the nicest part
Did not have the best experience living here for a year. Staff could be rude and irritable, whenever you asked a question. Breakfast was always reasonable but the evening meals weren't great and sometimes stomach-turning. My room was a dingy, depressing place to live. And occasionally the electric would be switched off by maintenance without any warning to the residents. I would advise future UCL students against applying for this accommodation and to actually go self-catered.
My partner had the “pleasure” to stay here when he first came to the UK for his PhD and oh man, what an experience!! The worse food you’ll ever try - even for UK “standards”. Rooms are tiny and with no natural light at all. Showers dirty and not working properly. Decent staff, with a human approach. Security is non-existent, which is much appreciated to roam around and do student-like things
Probably the worst UCL accommodation, food is not tasty, the rooms a bit dirty, old furniture, the staff not very helpful - I had difficulty getting into my room outside weekend arrivals hours. Commute to UCL is not very convenient, although the bus stop is just outside, the buses are packed with students and sometimes 2 go by before you can get on. And to be honest, the price is not that great either, I'm paying less this year for a nicer room in a better area.
After living here for a year it did feel like a home, and I’ve been back several times thereafter. It’s an interesting experience living amongst students from all over and a lot of nice staff working here, but the rooms, bathrooms and all is very much out-dated
Cheap, student digs which you can rent if needed, room-basis only. Slightly awkward set up if arriving out of core hours, and were surprised that rooms are let even during term time, so be sure not to make too much noise!
I've visited here a few times now, and I'm left with the impression that UCL could really stand to invest a little in this site. Everything looks and feels dated, most of the locks are temperamental and barely recognise keys, staff presence is minimal and security on site pretty poor. The amount of informational fliers stuck up around the place advising readers of how rent strikes work speaks volumes. If you're looking for accommodation at UCL, try elsewhere if you can.
