5 star for the Nurses and Doctor 2 star for the cleanliness of the facilities Being in an emergency situation or unknown outcome with your child is the most stressful experience any parent goes through. The staff here at C.H.O.A make that experience less painful. They do their best with the influx of patients they are seeing. Their triage team was fast and efficient. Our experience with ALL of the nurses and doctors was fantastic. Everyone was kind, gentle, and caring towards us and our son. Everyone got us triaged in a reasonable time and then medication admitted soon after. The facilities do not match the quality of care these nurses and doctors put into the care of their patients. The waiting area and exam room were dirty in appearance. My husband and I were questioning if it appears this dirty in the 2 rooms what the quality of care would be, if our son would get even more sick from being here, we hope our son wouldn't need an IV catheter or any invasive procedures in fear of sterility.
I will never go to this hospital again. I do not care what time of day it is or if it’s the last hospital in GA that will accept children, I would drive to Alabama or South Carolina to have my children seen. I arrived at the hospital early morning 1:30am on 1/16/24. My son had a fever of 102 and I gave him Motrin before taking him to the hospital, but my concern was his eye swelling on top of his fever he’s had the past 48 hours consistently at 102. Nevertheless, my son and I waited at this hospital for 4 hours and still no rooms were available to be seen, no doctors on call to take on patients. I was told EMS patients took up all of the rooms. It’s now 5am sun is rising people getting ready for work. I asked the lady who takes people vitals to take his temp and his temp was 99.5, considered not a fever in their books. So, I waited 30 more minutes and still nobody came to get us, it’s now 5:30am. I left the hospital with my son and monitored him at home. God forbid if my asthmatic son would have went home with a 99.5 temp and it spiked back up to 102 causing him to have a seizure. Thankfully I’ve managed to get advice from his pediatrician at 6 in the morning on how to properly care for him at home. Please avoid taking your child here. Take them somewhere, but don’t take them here.
I’ve had 1 great experience here for this too be a children’s hospital some of the nurses, not all but SOME doesn’t have the right mindset for seeking after our child/children!!!! Signing in is always a pleasure, clinical 1 young lady doesn’t like too wear gloves & ALWAYS on her phone and once I got in the back the male nurse didn’t warn me how he was about too do to my child and of course I feel like he violated my child!!! I’ve received some unpleasant customer service in many places but repeatedly in a CHILDREN’s HOSPITAL is a total discuss!!!
They did my baby well here. My 1 year old had a seizure and child hospital of Atlanta Egleston did nothing but sent us home. When we got home he had another seizure hours later. I requested for the ambulance to take us elsewhere. They bought us to Hughes. It was the most amazing experience I felt like they treated my baby as if it was there own. The nurses down to the doctors get a 10 star in my book. Thank you so much for the car you'll gave to my baby.
every experience I've had here has been made exceptional by the staff. s/o to nurse Linda who cared for my son today, she is such a lovely soul & this hospital it blessed to have her apart of their team
Was there dor 4 hours with my son they seen that his throat was red gave him fluid and sent him home with nothing, he went to.his primary doctor and found out he has strep throat so he was in pain all this time head hurting, throwing up, and body hurting and it could have been taken cared of whe. We went to the er whats the point of them being there
I took my son there last night he’s been sick for a while. They looked over his body “LOOKED” in his ears and said he’s fine just had a cold. That wasn’t true i took him to another hospital where they actually examined him and he has a ear infection in both his ears
The nurses and doctors were great. They all treated us with respect and were very thorough and knowledgeable. Tadiya, a nurse at the desk, was very kind and gave us coffee for our long way home at 4am. Very kind and compassionate.
The nurses are rude and don’t give any wait times. I have been at the ER since 3am and child has a 102fever and still in the waiting room for 3 1/2 hours. Horrible hospital needs better service!
Worst experience I’ve ever had. We were visiting from out of town. My daughter was in a cast and it was slowly sliding off so we took her here. We sat in the ER waiting room for 7 hours before we were seen by a doctor. While in the waiting room, her cast came completely Off. We also saw many families leave because of the long wait. Should’ve took that as a sign to leave. The staff was nice but the wait was horrible and cold. Finally we got a room 7 hours later, waited another 2 hours to only receive a splint and for the doctor to tell us to make an appointment for my daughter when we got back home. Months later, we received our bill and the hospital put a lot of things that they did not do, like a surgery. We are still trying to figure out our hospital bill with our military insurance. DO NOT RECOMMEND this hospital!
