A big thanks to the staff, with a special mention to Mr. David, who assisted me in opening my account with HSBC. The first time we visited, we were advised to do it online. However, after learning that a joint account requires a visit to the main branch, we returned. We were then assisted in completing the process on their PC outside, uploading documents via my phone. Within 15 minutes, we were called inside, and everything was set up. I now have both a current account and a global account. Mr. David thoroughly explained how everything works. Thank you very much for the excellent service
I had a problem opening a savings account and was unsuccessful speaking to the contact centre. I popped into Cramlington branch and spoke with Michelle who restored my faith and cannot compliment her enough. Still have issues with the general processes of this bank due to branch closures though and having to travel from Whitley Bay to Cramlington, but this is a separate issue. Well done Michelle and thank you for your understanding.

Poor customer service. Two experiences. Both wasted my time unnecessarily. In the first instance, the lady at the cashier couldn't stamp my statements correctly missing pages, which caused me an unnecessary additional 16 miles trip back to the branch. Second instance, being asked endless questions when trying to lodge money. In both occasions, I got much superior service from the neighbouring Barclays branch.
I went into the Cramlington branch as my local Gosforth branch has closed and I needed to change my surname and obtain proof of funds. Chelsea was so polite and helpful - I was very impressed and would recommend anyone to go to that branch for help or advice.
Very pleased with very friendly and professional service
It's improved over the last year or so, mainly because the paying-in machines have been upgraded. Cash deposits now show instantly. The staff couldn't be friendlier or more helpful. One star off because the opening hours still aren't great, even for a bank, and it's just too small really. They need a bigger outlet. There's often three different queues going on in a 15ft square space.
Usual HSBC branch with too few staff on the counter and huge queues waiting for the counter service as the self service machines can't deal with anything more complex than a deposit it statement print out. The sooner HSBC realise that most people actually prefer to deal with another human being and the reason many visit a branch is that their query is not straightforward. Stop trying to get rid of counter staff and replacing them with useless machines.
