My husband and I went to Howling Cow last night because cows are my favorite and we both love ice cream who doesn't. It quickly became one of my favorite places and I could have stayed there all night. I got a bowl of the lemon wafer ice cream and my husband got the banana split. Both were delicious! I think the pricing was fair/really similar to other ice cream shops and it was very busy. Definitely the perfect place to go to!
I absolutely love going to the Howling Cow Dairy Education center! The ice cream is hands down the best I've ever had. Campfire Delight is really good their waffle cones are excellent & there's cows on site you can't pet them or anything but it's really nice to look at them while you're enjoying your ice cream! They do also sell ice cream by the pint, shirts, key chains, freezer bags, and water bottles! If you haven't been you gotta check it out:
A delicious spot worth the wait. It’s right outside the NCSTATE campus but located on their farm. Delicious flavors, sundaes, swag and milkshakes. They have coffee, tea and sodas. There aren’t any lactose free options. A great open field where kids can play with a giant porch. Bathrooms inside and a water fountain. Tables and chairs too!
5* for the location with chairs to sit outside with wonderful views. Decent selection of flavours to try but nothing very special. Tried wolf pack and its full of chocolate bites which is good. Felt a little pricey but its good.
Eating ice cream can't get any more natural than this. The place is located right in the middle of farm land and you can see cows grazing all around the place. The ice cream parlour is good too. The place is run by NCSU students. Personally I tried their banana scoop and it was delicious. Highly recommended.
Clean shop, beautiful scenery, and delicious ice cream. But the true star is the whipped cream! Make sure to get some. I was also impressed that they have various, generic flavored, single serve ice cream containers for sale. The shop is limited to the same flavors of ice cream at each visit I would expect a place like this to rotate flavors so that there is always something new to try and the prices are definitely steep. P.S. there is a sign now when you pull up that says no dogs as it is a dairy farm - therefore, furry friends aren’t allowed even outside which is definitely a bummer.
This was my first time at the Howling Cow and I loved it! It was wonderful to be out in the open air and eat our fresh ice cream. We even had a chance to witness the cows "coming home" to eat dinner. Overall, this was a lovely experience even with 5 kids shared between my my and myself & to visit!
If I could I would give this wonderful place a 6 star review. This is the freshest best tasting ice cream I have ever had. The staff is extremely friendly and quick to help you with your order. Overall experience was great and we can’t wait to come back!
Ice cream straight from the source outside. Delicious. Got the mint chocolate chip which is heavy on the chip by the way in a waffle cone. They also have lattes. The inside was retro ice cream shop, exterior was farm house. They have specials designed by students as well for sale. Great place!! Will come again.
Delicious ice cream! There is some seating inside and a large porch area outside. A lovely grassy area perfect to take a blanket and sit to watch the cows. Besides scooped ice cream, they also sell prepacked pints and cartons of milk.
