My Mum was here for about 3 months from about October until the end of this year. She was very frail and infirm and nearing the end of her life.nWe were able to come and visit her whenever we wanted and she was always clean and well cared for when ever and whatever time we came. Every single member of staff was calm and kind and gentle. The rooms and facility’s were always warm and clean and tidy, she was looked in at night and during the day every hour, a note was made of what and how much she ate and the other patients who were there were friendly and happy.nI couldn’t have asked for a better place for my Mum to end her days. I will always be grateful to how kind and gentle everyone was there. Thank you for everything you did for her. She passed away peaceful in hospital today. Claire
Mum was out into here as an NHS winter bed for rehab before going home following a hip fracture. She was here a couple of days and I got a call to say she had fallen and injured her recently damaged hip trying to get out of bed. She reportedly had shouted for help but no one responded and she dragged herself to the door of her room and kept shouting but waited a long time, this is probably due to a lot of the patients in there are shouting for help and seem to be ignored . I witnessed this when I went in to collect all her belongings to head back to cramlington hospital to start the whole process again. My mum is 94 so this kind of set back could be more than just a set back. Needless to say she won’t be going back there
i live somewhat near by.nan old lady managed to escape one day when i was passing bynshe was trying to visit her husband whos in hospital or something, and the nurses were trying to get her back in. i cuddent help much so i just kept walking. they staff were pretty friendly, just trying to convince her.nmy granma however lives nearby and got involved. LSS they got her back in and i got to hear how she planned her escapennshe sat by the door and kept watching the staff go in and out and kept track of the buttons they clicked. she waited for her chance and went for it. i just found that funny and wanted to leave this here.
My father in law spent the last 5years of his life in Howdon care home. They were wonderful. The staff genuinely care about the residents and bend over backwards to help them. Sadly, Allan passed away a few years ago. If we had our time over again, we would without doubt put him in Howdon.
Our mother Margaret has just spent three weeks in an emergency winter bed in Howden Care Centre. She is now in permanent care in Whitley Bay. The home was brilliant. The staff were all so kind and caring. Food was very good. Her single en suite room was warm and cosy and had a tv. The family really appreciated the care the staff afforded mam. We would recommend it. January 2023.
