Under new management!! Nice spicy wings. Unfortunately the curry pancake roll wasn't nice. Probably the best chips your going to get locally ! Nice crispy battered fish and a extensive menu. Do like the cod bites option if you don't fancy a whole piece of fish with a decent curry sauce. Always busy here but staff seem the cope with a good system Staff polite and attentive. Phone orders are possible. Glad to see this business doing well as its a massive improvement to past owners. Outside dining area. Parking is limited in the area.
Really disappointed with tonight's offering from Hooked. The chips were dark and oily and didn't taste great but the fish was ok apart from being quite small for a large cod. It hasn't taken long for the standard of fish and chips to slip since being taken over a few months back.Food: 2/5
May 2024 taken over by Eltham Grill - they use different potatoes not as good as previous owners chips imo - chips not crispy. Rest of review is for the now departed management - the previous owners took this over about January 2022 the previous owners before that and management were not running their shop professionally to be polite and the new patrons have made a good refurbishment of the premises inside and outside - it’s well run with friendly staff and their chips are excellent so many chip shops can’t even do a good job of chips but Hooked have it to a T. You can have a small £3 large £4. Also on offer all the fish options you would expect plus saveloy, sausage in batter, pies, curry sauce etc etc. Take away only - if you like piping hot chips crispy on the outside and fluffy inside this is your place. I was passing this restaurant and a friend recommended it to me so I thought I’d try it. I was not disappointed, I had cod and chips the batter is very crispy and fresh. The service is very friendly and welcoming. The wait time wasn’t too long. Could definitely say that it was the best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time! Well deserved 5 stars.
I went here after work on Saturday, I’ve never been here before but it was recommended. The food was great and the fish was very light and fluffy. Big chunky traditional chips. Zara was so friendly and even gave me a sausage for my little dog. She was very friendly and chatty which was lovely.Food: 5/5

This review is from 2023 Can't remember the date The chips were nicely cooked, there were big portions, and the fish was the biggest I have ever seen in London. I have visited a lot of fish and chip stores, and honestly, they are worth the price. The chicken burger—don't even get me started. It is expensive, big man. It is definitely worth it with how soft the buns are and how juicy the burgers are with the lettuce and onions, which is a plus. I just wish they provided a slice of tomato in the burger, which would go well with the onions and lettuce with it, or a small portion of chips or something as a side for the price of the burger, but it is really worth it nonetheless. Keep it up, Hooked! This review is from October 2024 Ordered from this place twice now since new management. The fish this time was way better than a few months ago which wasn't up to par for the cost when they re - opened, but compared to last year check the 3rd picture, it is quite disappointing as well. Having the "fish skin" ruins the overall cod as well as the batter for it compared to the first picture; without the skin, it was perfect, and the price was well worth it compared to the 3rd picture, but it looks like the cod had gotten a lot smaller compared to most of the times I had ordered from here, but not sure worth the price of £17.50 justeat for the amount that you got. The chicken pie was hard from the bottom, like it's been out all day. The only good points are the chicken burger/chicken wrap, which is the highlight. I will reorder via here again for the chicken stuff, not for the fish & chips anymore unless or if it changes, as it isn't worth the price, not even on a Justeat Tuesday discount off. I used to order from this place a lot from my goto joint from the past few years for the fish & chips mainly but this year since ownership has changed a few months ago, it's been quite disappointing. At least the other stuff is alright, then downgraded. in my opinion Sadly, I have to downgrade my vote. The only thing that saved it is the chicken items, which was nice.
I recently visited Hooked Chipshop and had a fantastic experience! The new owner, Sarah, was absolutely lovely—warm, welcoming, and made sure everything was just right. The chips were perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, just how I like them. And the curry sauce was delicious, full of flavor with just the right amount of spice. It’s clear that Sarah is bringing great energy and quality to the shop. Highly recommend stopping by for a tasty treat!
I recently ordered fish and chips from Hooked Fish and Chip Shop in Eltham, and I was thoroughly impressed! The food tasted great, with the batter on the fish being perfectly crispy and not overly oily. I also tried their chicken wings, which were delicious and well-seasoned. It's clear that they use fresh ingredients and take pride in their cooking. I highly recommend this place for anyone craving quality chippy. Definitely my go-to spot from now on!
The previous owners put this place into shape. The new owners from Eltham Grill have really put quality into this place the fish is so fresh the chicken wings are the best i have ever had it use to be good but sometimes dry but now nice and big always fresh and juicy. The spice is on point im craving everyday to go to this shop staff are so so so friendly the chef is always smiling and seems to love being at work.
