What was once a lovely store has turned into a skip! Only the Service desk was serving no cashiers at the tills, stock all over the place with a poor selection. Left my trolley and went to B&Q.
I called them about a product I saw the day earlier, the cashier assured me they never had the product in stock. Talked to the manager, explained her where exactly in HER store the product was, same affirmation the product never was there. I drove to the shop, they had 6 of those planter pot I was looking for and saw the day before. However I asked a 3rd personn, who was just standing next to it. Same answer...... we don't have it. SERIOUSLY guys?! It is a shame that this store isn't managed, it has so much potential, unfortunately staff has NO CLUE of whats going on.
I am a retired lady quite good with DIY . I have been going almost every other day to the Southgate Branch over the last 8 weeks... and have spent a fair amout of money each time. This outlet is closing in the next few days. Although most of the staff and the manager Brian have been helpful when they are available up until today. Because of the size of some item, it is not always possible to check if everything is in order at the time of purchase, so we are told at the till that any faulty or damaged good can be returned ! Last week I had bought 2 bedside flat packed drawers ... whilst assembling the 2nd one I found a 3/4" chip on the surface, so I brought it back and I had my money refunded. The chip was on the top visible surface ! to me that is not acceptable. Today, a busy day at 90% off I went to return a faulty garden item which I managed to get a refunded. This was checked at the till and accepted as faulty. On approaching the manager regarding another item - he was very rude and voiced his anger at my returning so many items !!! This was with other customers around !! Not very professional attitude. It was very embarassing... I should have shown the faulty items to the manager BUT I decided to leave straight away without returning the item and cut my loss . Was reasably happy until now ... not any more !!!
After purchasing couple of items on offer we had issue with receipt as we notice that half of purchased items on offers didnt appear to have price cut on receipt... so with simple refund and re-scan and offer correction it would take 5min max! Quess what..till staff couldn't do that without manager MARK authorization..so when he came 6min later..After chat and rolling eyes most of time he disappear..No sorry...No apology for time delay-wait..He was USELESS..and I have worked in had retail exeprience for few years in the past but NEVER seen manager like that..so 30 min has passed..he's chatting to other staff..just standing in corner ... meanwhile guy in busy till tries to get him back.....we wait..then manager returs IGNORES us Totally...same time guy in the till has more brains to deal with this issue and sorry attitude towards us than EYE ROLLING MANAGER. We basically left 35-40min later what was max 5 min price correction job.. hahaha..I'm patient person but that was just the most weirdest and rudest manager iv seen..Please be ready to check that right offer price appears on till before final pay or you have to deal with MANAGER MARK and loong time consuming mess...good luck...
If I could give this no stars, I would. It felt like I was walking into a clearance store. None of the products are looked after, all the packaging is damaged and the store generally doesn't feel maintained. I intended to come and get some plants and 90 percent of them were dead or dying. What a shame.
Called b4 going into store to make sure they had what i wanted. The young man assured me they had it in stock. Went in store looked endlessly until i asked a staff which pointed in the direction where it might be...there was nothing there after roaming the store looking still nothing. Saw another staff that took me somewhere else only to see a very miniature version of what i had asked for like really??? No one seemed to know where anything was. I asked another staff who left me thinking he had gone to check for me..realised he had gone on his breakAsked to see the manager ..was left waiting so i just left... clueless staff and no customer service skills. Never again!!!
Appauling. Looks like a store that is willing itself to bankruptcy. Perhaps that is the plan. The place is a tip, Two ladies doing their best on service desk, having to do everthing. 3 'managers' standing around doing NOTHING, just yakking to each other. I asked for some help with finding something, ladies at service desk asked the manager to help, no one knew where the items were kept, the manager went off I thought to find out, and just dissapeared. He did not speak one word to me, if he had worked for me I would have dismissed him on the spot. In the end I went to find him and said, look don't worry about it I will get them somewhere else as frankly I am losing the will to live. He just looked at me blankly! I have to put up one star, or can't post the review, that one star is for the two ladies on the service desk.
Good selection of DIY tools Stanley, Bosch. Since the recent refurbishment, the selection of tools has been much expanded. Even if you've been here before, it's worth visiting again. There used to be an Argos in-store and its closure means that there is now more room for tools and supplies. Quality supplies such as roofing felt, pipes, etc - but double check any wood to ensure it's not warped.
Visited on a Saturday morning. Gavin on the till was friendly and really helpful. Special mention to Nafis and Alicia, ,my phone had slipped out of my pocket whilst I was looking at flooring options. Their prompt actions ensured it was returned to me before I left the store. I'll never look at Hygena flooring products in the same way again ;-. p.s For those complaining about lack of refunds remember this is a DISCOUNT CLEARANCE STORE. If you want full range of products and right to return go to the Homebase in North Finchley.
Despite, encountering a previously challenging experience at Homebase, I recently visited Homebase N11 & my whole perception of Homebase has truely changed as a result of 2 amazing members of staff...Colin Manager and Nafis. These members of staff are genuinely beyond brilliant & need cloning, as they really went well beyond the call of duty in assisting me with my garden purchases! Thank you. Fiona Ps. Just because you have a bad experience with a member of staff, please don't let that cloud your judgement of everyone else within a store...as everyone deserves a second chance
