Hi there....I live in Canada and I'm looking for photo of my Great Grandfathers grave. His name Thomas Cole and died in 1928 and I am told he is buried at this Church. I would love to see a picture of his gravestone. Is that possible?
One of the oldest churches in the area. Great history to the place dating back further than before Southend was an actual place on a map. It is often speculated that Southchurch got its name from this church because it was the "Church to the south" of prittlewell priory. This church was here long before southchurch Hall was even built and most of southchurch wasn't even an idea at that point. If you're into history then you'll appreciate the church more than a tourist.
I was born in Southchurch, christened at Holy Trinity. My parents and grandparents are buried there. It is a wonderful church with a feeling of tranquility.
I'm biased as I'm the vicar ! but the church really is beautiful. A strange combination of styles from the outside, but inside it's a peaceful and fascinating church. Well worth a visit - a hidden gem.
Lovely church, bright and airy with beautiful stained glass windows.
The church is not normally open for private prayer or viewing despite the hours shown on Google maps.
