Lovely church, but what makes this, is the BEST church community of kind caring people and an equally lovely priest, Fr Graham Smith, at its heart. Photo was from Christmas 2023
Grew up knowing this church inside out. I attended the school next door and had the pleasure of altar serving here multiple times weekly up until I left for senior school. Our childhood priest passed away and that's when things changed for us as we loved Father Howes and he was fantastic. We then moved away and with my children now at a school more local to us, we rarely visited Sacred Heart. My son is now preparing for his First Holy Communion and this has brought us back to Sacred Heart with the meetings and services being here. It's brought back so many memories for me and watching Father Graham, bringing joy to everyone at his masses, really reminds me of being at church alongside my school friends and fellow altar servers and Father Howes. Sacred Heart really is a place of welcome to all and I'm so surprised to still see so many memorable faces from my school days.
I was there for a funeral bug it was a cheery place, friendly with some available amenities. Loo
I gave 5 stars as the parish priest was lovely and from what u could hear gave lovely sermon. I can also see it’s a lovely church and love our lady of perpetual succour for lighting candles. I can see there is a strong community at the church. If I am being honest , this is the first time I have come across a church where there is no emphasis or atmosphere of quiet reflective pray or to sit quietly and contemplate. Choir also sound evangelical which goes with the atmosphere. But as I said they all look like they are happy and you may love this . Godbless
Love this church Was baptised here. I think being baptised definitely makes a big difference to your life. Every time I come here I feel peaceful and I feel calm. It gives me time time reflect and strengthen my relationship with God.
