Don't be discouraged by the area, we didn't even know anything existed down this small street, the owner explained to us that they have been there for 4 years!!! The restaurant itself is very minimalist, just like the ones you'll find in Japan. The food was prepared and served so nicely that as soon as we bit into our first starter we agreed to be back for more. The portions of the mains were spot on. There's another alternative for Japanese cuisine in Bedford with a well known chain but the food portions and price to pay is not very balanced. Overall our first experience of HokuHoku was great and could not fault it. The music sealed the deal with the Japanese atmosphere. Well done, you got yourself new customers.

One of Bedfords hidden gems for food. Never had Japanese food quite like it, the portions are generous and the food is presented well and tastes amazing. Expect at least £25 per person but I think that's more than fair for the quality of service and the meal one can expect from this place.

One of the best Japanese restaurants I tried. Authentic Japanese food but they had also sushi and spicy options I guess to adapt to British tastes. Austere service. A hidden gem. They also do take away. Check website for actual timetables google ones needs correcting!
