The new larger Hobgoblin branch in Leeds opened in 2010 and is right in Leeds city centre.
As well as the full Hobgoblin range of Guitars, Mandolins, Banjos, Free Reed and other instruments, we have an extended range of percussion and a good range of both tutor books and songbooks for various instruments.
We also have a specialist violin department (The Leeds Violin Shop) with a large range of violins, violas and cellos from the student instruments and upwards.
There are plenty of car parks near by.

This place is - not to exaggerate - magical! There are instruments I've never heard of! And such beautiful guitars. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and not hard-sell. You can ask them questions and they'll let you try different instruments. I thought I wanted a guitarlele but it turned out my now previous guitar was just a bad fit.  Now I have one that feels as good as it sounds.

We had absolutely amazing service from the two gentlemen in the shop last week, helping me to find my very first violin. Thank you so much for all of your knowledge, patience and expertise. I am now the proud owner of my very first beautiful violin, and I couldn't be happier!

Having looked online in the morning to check they had what we wanted, we travelled into Leeds.  On arriving and asking, we were told they had no 12 string guitars in stock! The sales assistant said the website is not kept up to date and WE SHOULD HAVE RUNG!!!! Not impressed. On the plus side they had a good selection on cajons and had I not been so unimpressed by the guitar situation I probably would have bought 1 but I was so I didn't.  If you are considering visiting make sure you ring ahead and check as their website is misleading.

What a nice guy!  I phoned and asked for a drum and a bag and a beater to be put aside, went down the next day, exactly what I expected was there waiting for me.  Also he taped the rim of my bodhran, checked the tuning and showed me basically how to play it.  I'm very pleased and would shop there anytime :

Always my first choice when needing my strat looking at or needing new bits for my LP strings / treatment / capos etc. a  wide selection of instruments and lots of care towards everything they look at, plus the price of services is great!

Wonderful shop with friendly. knowledgeable and helpful staff.  They knew exactly when to engage and when to leave me to play, and were totally okay with me just playing around on a whole bunch of instruments despite the fact I'd pretty much declared I wasn't buying, just fact-finding.  My visit was last week, and that freedom and space they gave me is exactly what led to me finding and falling in love with a wonderful bouzouki, which I have now yesterday bought from them...  Well done, Hobgoblin Leeds... please don't change!

Popped in to have a look at a few acoustics and I have to say it was a great overall experience I was served by a man named nick who was knowledgeable and approachable and really did help me expand my knowledge on acoustic guitars. And they have a great stock of tab books aswell overall one of the best guitar stores I've been too in terms of stock and customer service.

I've bought many violins and had a lot of repairs and advice from Hobgoblin. I also recently went to try out many acoustic and electric violins and the staff were more than happy to let me do that and help me with anything I need. Overall great service and products!

I don't know anything about musical instruments. My friend asked me to buy him clarinet reeds and the very friendly staff helped me choose exactly what I needed. Many thanks.

Great selection of instruments of all periods. Great knowledgeable friendly staff. No sales pitch or annoyance. Staff always have been welcoming to everyone when I've been there. I bought an Irish bazouki there in April 2022 needed some adjustment in September. They where attentive and showed a willingness to make everything just so. Old style ethics good guys, owner should be proud. Take a look, don't buy online, support these wonderful shops or we will lose them.
