Restaurant is lovely inside, great atmosphere and fresh decor. Service is great and quick. Food is good but on the expensive side for what you get but it is Ho Wong after all so to be expected. Would recommend to book for evenings as since they reopened they are still busy. There are possibly better Chinese planes in Glasgow but everyone has to go to Ho Wong at least once. Not as spicy as I was expecting but my dinner mate liked it. Will go back to try more dishes. It is halal so that's a bonus.
Just been to the new Ho Wong for lunch. Excellent food, the very best quality, however this is reflected in the cost. Not the cheapest lunch in town but probably the best I have tasted for a long time.
Stepsons 21st at Ho Wong and could not fault decor, service or food it was simply the best! Piping hot food served at table was delicious. Ok it’s a bit more expensive than others but nothing out of the way. Booked again before we left!! Also brought out wee cake to embarrass
Doesn’t look like much from the outside however once inside the decor is quite beautiful all five of us enjoyed our food it was very tasty. They even had a decent wine list especially for an Asian restaurant in Scotland
Absolutely amazing. High standard Chinese. The team is of great service, polite, spectacular. A treat to my friends. Thank you Ho Wong. Coming back next week. Please book in advance I’d say a week or so. Highly recommend.
First time in this restaurant tonight and probably the last. The prices are ridiculously expensive and there's no justifying it. Food was mediocre and not anything better than what I've had in any other Chinese restaurant, but double the price. £11.90 for a chicken satay starter one of the cheapest starters, which was served on the same plate as my partners squid on a bed of salad. Not a major issue but not how I expected it to be served. Mains were at least £20 per person and did not include rice or noodles, which we added two portions of fried rice at £4.50 each, again arriving at the table in the same dish. I had a look at the side orders to see veg at £10.80 which is just laughable! The portions were of average size and did not reflect the price. There's no menu on their website and I can see why. If I'd seen a menu prior to booking, I simply wouldn't have booked. The diet coke bottles were 200ml at £3.90 each! I've paid less in finer dining establishments. £104 bill for a Chinese restaurant in Glasgow for 2 people is ridiculous! We visited another top rated Chinese restaurant in Glasgow and our bill was almost half of what we were charged at Ho Wong!
Went for my brother's 40th, and the food was exceptional! The steak with crispy garlic starter was great. As we're the salt and chilli asparagus and aubergine dishes! And the lemon sole with salt and chilli main was epic! As was the spicy honey chicken dish!
The Ho Wong is in a different league than any other Chinese. Food is outstanding. Chicken satay, fillet of beef Cantonese and red velvet cake
Food was nice but nothing that quite lived up to £20 to £25 avg per main course. My deep fried ice-cream a bit disappointing. Outside crispy shell was cold & thus you didn't get that lovely hot & cold mix. Needs more staff to keep all tables happy with service. Venue was very nice inside with great decor. The overall feeling was one that's trying to live off the old reputation but falls short with value for money.
We were excited to visit the Ho Wong for a family celebration. Unfortunately we were stuck in traffic, we called to say our party were to start, we would arrive for the main course set menu. On entering we were impressed with the decor but were met with a line of very hostile staff who refused to let us in. We explained we were with a group, they said there was no group there. We actually thought we had the wrong restaurant! This set the tone for how we were treated, the staff were extremely rude. A female member of staff then proceeded to tell one of our family she needed to control her son who was being exceptionality well behaved. As front of house staff she needs to be sensitive & aware of peoples feelings. If the restaurant is for adults only then they need to promote it as such. The Google ‘About’ section under Amenities has “Good for kids” and “Family friendly” selected. This goes way against our experience. The staff were on edge & rude, they removed unfinished plates, mad when we asked for drinks, did not catering to dietary requirements, were angry when we ordered extra dishes, and when paying the card was snatched from my sisters hand aggressively, we were so shocked. Staff need trained in customer service and specific training on people with additional support needs. It is in no way like the old Ho Wong, customer service, staff attitude & kindness goes a long way. On reflection we should have left but we were in disbelief at how we were being treated. If you want to have a pleasant dining experience I would recommend you go elsewhere.
