This is a lovely restaurant, I took my 4 year old for lunch. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. Our food was delicious, beautiful ingredients and cooked to perfection. The views are stunning from everywhere within the restaurant. Will definitely be visiting again. The Oysters were beautifully creamy, monkfish with capers and butter so meaty yet juicy and cheese and biscuits for dessert. My daughter had the popcorn cockles amazing, hake very nice and simply cooked and ice-cream.
This was everything we had wished for and well worth the journey. Fabulous location, lip-smackingly delicious food and cheerful service. We were even treated to some birthday truffles. The cockle popcorn, prawn burger and asparagus soup came route 1 from culinary heaven. Check out the counter seats too; best view in the house! This is what great British hospitality is all about. Bravo!!
We went to this restaurant as our friend recommended it. I'm Southern Italian so quite peaky in terms of food. My boyfriend and I ordered the mix fish for 2, 2 sides and 2 local beers. Everything was simply delicious. The fish mix had 2 soles lemon sole and Dover sole and the tail of a sea bream. We ordered it with the green sauce and it was mouth-watering. As sides we had the potatoes and the courgettes which were both quite good; maybe we might have fancied bigger portions but that's it. Apart from the quality of the food we also appreciated the fact that everything or almost every product is locally sourced. Local farms are sponsored on the menu and we quite liked that. The beers were local as well and the waiter told a bit about the brewery that makes them. In 2 we paid in total £85 which is totally a fair price considered we are in the UK and in a beautiful location, plus the service was spot on. Definitely a place where I would bring my guests so bravo!
Wow! upon arrival Everything was made so special for us! We tried wonderful fresh lobster for the first time tasty John Davy main, plus fresh oysters and scallops! My sons birthday was a real treat and we were even surprised with a wonderful gift of truffles!! thank you so much team and big love to you all! Spectacular dining at its finest with passion and kindness Parking: Parking is not too far away. 2 main car parks top and bottom of the hill. The restaurant is located half way up. A steep hill does make a challenge but is manageable. Wheelchair accessibility: There's a ramp situated off the main road and the spacious flooring allows for access. Further to this ramp access to outer seating also. An observation was made as a wheelchair was dining in the restaurant at the time and appeared to be a comfortable access with a spacious toilet to use also upon entrance. For parking wheelchair users could be advised that they could drop off directly outside the restaurant as the car parks are located either at the very bottom of a steep hill or at the top. The restaurant sits half way up the hill and would be a challenge otherwise.
Great staff, food was great. Reason for only 3 stars is that they gave us not the nicest table in the house as there were a couple of larger tables which made a lot of noise and we sat right next to it. So no option anymore to dine in peace or talk to each other. They should consider this better in the future or let guests know in advance. We managed to get a table outside, but also there was a larger table. Put in middle of 3x tables with couples. Maybe logistically organise this better so all have a good time.
We pop in for our anniversary, with our 7months baby. Being from the industry and aware of the challenges we are facing, our experience was fenomenal. They make us feel very cool and relax since we popped in. Suggestions were perfectly recommended by Faye and his colleague. Food was delicious, tasty simple food every bite. And we had quite a lot of food.
We always eat here when we go up to Bournemouth as it's literally half way there & it's always reliable. Owned by Mark Hix, a good friend of our pal & fellow chef/ restaurateur Mitch Tonks, this restaurant specialises in fish. It does however also cater for vegetarians / vegans. There is also a few meat items on the menu. It is situated just off a steep hill, overlooking The Cobb so has stunning panoramic views. There is no parking here so you need to park in the pay & display on the right side of the road & then walk down the hill. NB If you are less mobile, maybe ask your designated driver to drop you off & pick you up due to the gradient of the hill. For £1 a head you get unlimited table water plus there is a nice selection of non & alcholic drinks.
Excellent restaurant. Great food and absolutely delightful staff. From the moment we walked in until home timeFreya and Matt looked after us so well. Try their Voignier as an aperitif, delicious. I had the Cauliflower Pekora followed by the whole blackened Sea Bream and then Isle of Wight blue cheese. My wife had the fritto misto with some salad and fries followed by iced and chocolate sauce. All the food was cooked to perfection with gorgeous flavours. The decor and sublime panoramic views go further to make a wonderful dining experience. We'll done Mark Hix and his team! Perfect.
The setting and building is absolutely gorgeous, but the servers and food make this spot a must. Freya was accommodating to our large party with 2 toddlers and made us feel like we were eating at a friends home. Her welcoming spirit and overall passion for the menu made for the best experience. I was so satisfied with the miso fruto , hake, monkfish pie and the soda bread is to die for . Will definitely be back!
Lovely restaurant facing the sea. Fresh uncomplicated local fish and produce, great service, and a chance to relax and watch the world go by with a bottle of wine and a cocktail!
