I’d like to express my heartfelt thanks to the Hitchin railway staff member who assisted my otherwise fit elderly mother-in-law today, 14/08/25. Not only did she kindly help with her luggage, but she also rang ahead to Letchworth to make sure someone was there to assist her off the train. Such thoughtfulness and kindness are truly appreciated. Thank you.
My elderly and partly blind mother was given wonderful care at Hitchin station yesterday 23 Jan 2024. My mum explained to the staff that she was feeling a little lightheaded so they took her bags and helped her to the lift. They escorted her to the train and settled her in her seat. They also radioed ahead to ensure assistance was organised at her destination. I am very grateful for the care given to my mother, thank you all at Hitchin and Horsham stations.
Very rude staff horrible staff who yelled at me. All because I didn’t realise that the train door was shut so I went to press the open button to get onto it and she yelled at me. Clearly a little bit of power going to her head- very rude woman. I don’t think it would have killed her to say sorry the train is leaving you can’t get on, wait for the next one
No trains going to London from Huntingdon meant being put in a taxi to Hitchin. When I arrived at Hitchin after a 45min journey the staff appeared to have no knowledge of the assistance I required despite it having been rung through from Huntingdon. I am disabled and always travel with assistance and a wheelchair for distances. The taxi driver could not find a close parking space and I had to walk across all the bus lanes and was in great pain when I got there. I asked for assistance and received a look of surprise from the first of a line of 4 staff standing at the ticket barrier. I had to ask a further 2 times before the last man in the line took my suitcase and walked off ignoring my request for a wheelchair. Feeling compelled to follow, I was taken to the opposite platform and placed at my request in the cafe. The man promised to return and put me on the next train to London leaving half an hour later. The man did not return and I missed the train. I struggled out onto the platform but there were no staff on my side. A fellow passenger was so incensed with my situation that he shouted across the platform to the staff there who came straight over. I was then put on the next train, but despite my direct request to Hitchin staff a wheelchair had to be sent for when I arrived at Kings Cross as the correct message had not been rung through.nI travel every half term between Huntingdon and Eastbourne with 3 changes on each journey and I have never experienced anything like this before!
I never write reviews but want to say another thank you to the staff yesterday for their help. After problems with the rail trains were cancelled and the staff did everything they can to assist people. The staff were so friendly and a big thank you to Lisa for going out of her way to make sure I could get home in the hours we were waiting and for finding a cab for me. So kind and caring. Thank you
