I sadly can not recommend Hine Solicitors. I used them to handle my will, a house sale, a house purchase and my recent divorce. I have been a good customer with Hine, spending thousands in fees with them over the past year. However, my divorce solicitor, Ms Jennifer Lightwing, sent three of my original legal documents to another company untracked or signed for - just through regular post - and the documents did not arrive. This means that a legally bound court ordered matter cannot be finalised until the receiving company has the replacement documents. Ms Lightwing refuses to apply for my replacement documents without charging me another fee of £160-200 and refuses to undertake the small task of this without this fee. The documents being lost was out of my control entirely, and I was not given an option of how they should be sent, eg. Special Delivery/Signed For etc. I cannot understand the rationale of sending my original legal documents through the post unsecured but she says this is their standard practice. I remain deeply upset by this situation and shocking lack of decent customer service from Hine. I would have expected to be treated fairly and for them to apply for and resend my documents in a secure manner for free given that I have already paid them for this service. Why should I have to pay more money to Hine when the documents being sent unsecured and subsequently lost is out of my control. My only option now is to apply to the Family Court for replacement documents myself, which incidentally will also incur me a fee from the court. I am now making a formal complaint against my solicitor through their firm and if that fails will be going to the Legal Ombudsman.

I normally use top London solicitors and have only used this firm to witness important documents as they are local to me. However I can say that they are highly competent, flexible, pleasant and obliging.
