Stopped in for a breakfast. The lady on the bar was really friendly and served us quickly. We found the food to be a bit sub par compared to other Toby’s we have visited. The breakfast bits were a bit low and some not as fresh as I would like. The brown sauce was empty so went with the ketchup which at least had a good amount left.
Lovely meal on Sunday here. Was too hungry to bother getting pictures of it. We went at 5pm and it was nice and quiet which was a surprise. We didn't have to queue for the food and it was very fresh and piping hot. Much better quality than any of the crown carveries that we have visited. And not much more expensive either. Overall we were very impressed and the kids loved it. Also meant my wife had a night off from cooking.
Visited Tues evening after Christmas weekend. It was not busy and four of us enjoyed starter, carvery and dessert. The roast meats were excellent and generous portions though that might have been because it was a quiet evening. Great choice of vegetables too and very good value. Wine choice of bottles limited but good value. Pleasant friendly service - no complaints but can imagine it could be very different if a busy evening.
Food was nice. Very modern inside. Soft drinks were flat however due to how busy the place was 50% off deal on and how understaffed they were, it was an overall nice experience. Would definitely suggest top managers to recruit more staff at this place. The current staff were lovely, friendly, but overworked. Has the potential to be a great place.
A fresh, hot cooked breakfast with plenty of choice even as a vegetarian. Sonia was a friendly, helpful host. Would’ve been 5 stars but no eggs due to National shortage and no alternative offered. Otherwise very good value. Vegetarian options: Limited options compared to carnivores
Food was up to usual standards and the waitress did her job well. My parents have mobility issues and the table was less than ideal but we managed okay. One of the small steps almost caused a minor fall. Generally we were happy and enjoyed the meal. Praise to Suzanne.Food: 4/5
Meet up with friends. The food was lovely I had the vegetarian option which was delicious, but the vegetables were a little dry most likely due to the excessive heat pouring down on them from the heating lights above them. For the same reason we were literally burning our hands on the utensils used for the vegetables, they were so hot we had to use serviettes around the handles so that we could use them. Other than that the service was lovely and the atmosphere was quiet. There was probably only 3 other tables with people eating on a Friday night so was very quiet. Overall a great place for a traditional carvery or even veggie option.
Visited for breakfast this morning, the customer service from Sonia on the counter was absolutely first class, very helpful, friendly and cheerful, the sort of customer facing person that every business would wish for. The food was good and a good choice was available at a fair price. This is not our first visit and I’m sure we’ll make many more.
We were not at all happy. The plates were cold so no chance of food remaining hot, the vegetables were tepid at best and when I mentioned this I was told that food is kept at an optimal temperature under the lights! I would like to know how many people eat food that is supposed to be hot at such a cool temperature? To be fair they did microwave my food and made it an acceptable temperature. Our disappointment did not stop there however. We had our grandson with us and he wanted Yorkshire Puddings and Sausages but the chef said he didn’t know if they had any, really, 1pm on the first day of half term when parents would be taking children and they didn’t know if they had sausages? The chef did however bring some out. Then we get to the deserts and I requested whipped cream and was told there was none then the waitress brought some out. What an utter shambles!! The excuse for all of this was that they were busy and had had a busy breakfast period. If the staff cannot cope with busy periods you shouldn’t be in business. We asked for the bill and was asked if we had Kids eat for £1 voucher which I didn’t know about but I downloaded it. I it was not brought to my attention that this voided the midweek offer and I had to pay the full price for my meal and desert and my husband got the mid week deal for his meal. Had I known this I would not have had a desert? The actual amount saved was 50p, what a con. The whole experience has made us feel that we will not be visiting Toby for the future. Parking: Parking is good but only 5 disabled spaces.
Lovely staff . Needed to be a bit more generous with the meat carvings especially when the kids got more than the adults , but they did another slice when noted. The food was hot , cooked well and delicious. Beer was kept well , pint of Doom Bar was vest I've had in a long time.Food: 5/5
