Stayed for one night in an executive room due to the hotels proximity to Sunderland Live. Firstly all the staff I came across were very friendly and helpful. The room was a good size and recently redecorated though they should sack the decorator for the shoddy finish on most areas. It had everything needed but was a little cold even though I turned the thermostats up full. The bathroom is modern and was clean but the shower was difficult to regulate and stuck on hot. The bar area is large with a good selection of drinks and a wide bar menu though I didn’t try any food. Breakfast was included in my rate which attracts an £11 supplement. This was a let down. The continental was basic with cellophane wrapped croissants. You have to tick 5 items from the hot menu for them to prepare. This looked ok when it arrived but the scrambled eggs were cold and the baked beans had an awful tainted taste. It wasn’t worth £11 and I’d have saved my money for the Greggs round the corner.nnIt’s in a convenient location for transport links and there is a convenience store one block away. I’d recommend The Mill pub about a 15 minute walk or two minutes drive for very good pub food.
Great service. Everyone from reception to restaurant staff and cleaners. Lady at breakfast even set our table ready for our second day just as we’d had it the first day with a high chair ready for us. Little touch like that just great service. Smiley happy people. Our second time here and would not hesitate to stay again.nThank you
Hotel location is handy for several local tourist attractions.nnStaff cannot be faulted, lovely peoplennThe lady that spoke to us at breakfast was Particularly nice and helpful.nnNice place
Use to love New Year’s Eve here but then it was full of childrennhold on to your drinks karaoke was kids met some lovely people they decided won’t come back the meal fantastic brilliant staff a good pub spoilt people we have met at this place we go elseway meet up no kids
Nice place 15 mins or so to Sunderland.nStaff pleasant . Room clean but a little rough around the edges.nFound bed comfortable.nChoice of either traditional English or Thai cuisine. Had Thia the first night great choice taste great and presented early well on my second night had the Steak and ale pie it was ok but nothing fancy average pub grub.nThe take away service did seem popular with the locals and plenty in the restaurant.nBreakfast menu looked a bit confusing but works for the hotel.nDownside great for contractors and people booking hotel for work purposes, for those booking for leisure the breakfast was too early to finish. The breakfast finishes at 8.45 sharp, and the reason I say sharp is that sometimes nine came down at 8.40 and was being rushed to order hot food before he had a chance to properly read menu or even make a brew.nBedroom had a god number of sockets, lacked a USB socket so make sure you bring a plug or leave the TV on as you could plug into that.
