I have visited this garden centre on and off for years and have recently been there a few times more frequently as I have a big garden project. I felt compelled to leave a review to say how wonderful the staff are at helping me, in particular Julie, who spent a great length of time helping me select the appropriate plants. I found the prices very competitive and a lot cheaper than others. The quality of the plants have been very good too.
The place is run down and overpriced. It's a large site, but many areas are overgrown and neglected. I took photos of the water features for sale, as I couldn't get over how old, damaged and shabby they were and been sold as new! They had some pond plants which was good and what I was looking for. Staff were kind and friendly. But I probably won't return there.
It was like something off a zombie film.. no one there and a total mess. I felt sorry for the staff as maybe times were tough or something. Looked like half the plants were dead and stock eg a lawnmower which looked as if it has been there for the last ten years....unsold...due to it being twice the cost as Argos..... Was pricey too and I just that if the owners put a bit of effort in cleaning up their stock and putting it in some order it would be so much better. When we went it had been very windy in the morning but clearly the calmer afternoon and complete lack of any customers meant it wasn't the right time to pick up any of the stock!
Should've probably read the reviews before making the 40 minute drive. Arrived and thought it was particularly quiet outside. Went in and was greeted to a dusty looking shop. Prices are on the expensive end compared to other independent garden centres. If the products were of a high quality we would understand the price but the plants were either dried up or completely dead. We thought whilst we're here we will try out the cafe but decided against it as the decor looked dirty and ended up leaving after fifteen minutes. The place has potential to be something good as they have the space but need to start by clearing out the rubbish and giving the centre a good deep clean. Then they can restock it with new produce.
Quirky show rooms but then the plant areas were higgidely piggledy for the trees, bushes. Other areas were better. I'd certainly return because it's not part of a huge chain where everything is uniform and sterile. Breakfast sandwich I'd fully recommend and the slices of cake.
Very pleasant newly refurbished cafe with a good outside seating area. Great coffee and cake. Will return for lunch.
Great selection of well-cared for plants with huge range of garden-related and other merchanise and an excellent café.
Very good quality of plants although a lack of choice on the day we went. We did find what we wanted. Unfortunately, the café was closed. It looked as though it had been closed for a while.
Oh dear, used to be my go too place as it's handy. Visited yesterday afternoon. The bulk of the few available "plants" are an absolute disgrace. They're either dead or dying or you're looking into a dry pot of tiny twigs. I wouldn't even have them for free. Small selection of healthy spring bedding, pansies, primroses etc. If it's under new ownership or undergoing a revamp, put some signs up! That way, customers would understand that maybe things will improve and come back. I just left and went to Otley Philip Smith's Garden Centre. Customers vote with their feet.
Got a haircut with Julia in Barber's Hut. Latte, peppermint tea, Choc orange brownie and pork pie in the cafe. Lors to buy fir xmas & trees. And who should we meet - brilliant !
