After being SO disappointed by another hotel nearby it was a dream for Stacey to pick up the phone when I called to book an afternoon tea. She was a breath of fresh air, very attentive and anticipated our wants before we wanted them! Her serving us really made our visit really special. We were both in stitches at Stacey's light hearted humour and really felt very well looked after. Oh and she went above and beyond with the afternoon tea! Her attention to detail in everything- fruit in our drinks and the content of the afternoon tea itself was fantastic! I will be back with more friends soon! Thank you so much Stacey we loved your positivity and we could really tell you enjoyed being there! Your happiness is infectious thank you
This was a very nice, very old building. the rooms, which aren't many, were lovely and clean. The bathroom was small but you can't expect big in an old building iike this one. For young ones, I would say the bar is probably quite busy at weekends and has a real fire which is great when it is cold and wet. Plenty of music, and they were gearing up for Halloween with decorations all around! I They also look like they have live music and the usual screens if you want football etc. Staff were great and friendly. Food was excellent, we had a bar meal at night but you could sit in their restaurant for a meal if you prefer. Breakfast was also very good with plenty helpings. The only thing would be, if you can't climb stairs it might be difficult for you to reach the rooms as they are on the top floor. Other than that, we would definitely go back.
The staff and my room on the top floor were extremely good. Staff very helpful. Room clean and well kitted out with essentials. The only reason for the 3 stars is because the whole place needs a good makeover. Carpet up to the room was filthy and smelly. The reception desk was makeshift and not inviting. The building outside looks delapidated. Food average. Thank you to all the staff who helped me with my bags and service was superb
Beautiful town, great location for exploring the area. The room was spacious, clean & comfortable. We ate dinner and breakfast the food was delicious and the staff were attentive and helpful. The dogs even got some breakfast. Had a lovely stay would definitely go backRooms: 5/5
We booked Christmas dinner this year and we arrived between 3:15-3:30 . It took almost 30m for drinks to arrive and 2 drinks were missing and one cocktail was missed out on our 12x cocktail tree . We waited almost 2 hours for our starters to arrive and when they did come they were tasteless and disgusting . The staff were very rude and unprofessional . None of them could take control of the situation . The male waiter was swearing and slamming doors not only infringe if paying customers but also young kids on Christmas Day ! They also served us pate with no chutney. Instead put cheap marmalade and there was no oatcakes it was served with crackers and biscuits . All the cocktails we had were very watery , however the daiquiri was very nice . The toilets wee clean however the drink glasses were not when we asked for a replacement as they were covered in finger prints. We were met with attitude and the glasses they gave us in replacement were not any better . We paid £480 and asked for a refund which they could not do however they gave us £50 and are still due is the remainder of the payment which will be transferred to my mum who payed for a meal that we we’re all excited for . We we’re not horrible to the staff at all but it was constant attitude . It’s Christmas Day and we have no intention of upsetting anyone however all the staff said there customer were abusive when we only asked for a refund from a service we never received . The male waiter barged by us swearing ‘ **** the lot of use ‘ shocking service and no one deserves to be treated this way . The other manager was rude and is not capable to run the place . She said her mum was the owner yet she was no where to be seen to take any responsibility or deal with her staffs attitude . We will not be back and we will await our refund or we will have to return back to the premises to speak to staff . Either way we will have the refund of our money . I expect we are not the only ones as the tables around us were disgusted with how the staff treated us and their lengthy wait time . The lady who was serving us I did feel sorry for as I under and it must be stressful if it is busy however my opinion changed once we complained about the food as she stated”well no one else has complained “ which is not good enough customer service to paying customers . We have had to leave the premises and find our Xmas dinner elsewhere . Also because we complained we were told we were discriminating against staff who had ‘Asperger’s’ which had nothing to do with the situation . We we’re not discriminating against anyone as peoples illnesses has nothing to do with it .
The waiting staff were fantastic. Very attentive and friendly but sadly this is all I can say was enjoyable about the experience. Above the table we were seated at there was a damp patch with a crack in the ceiling. 90s pop / dance music was being played into the restaurant, with the speaker directly above us. At one point we were being serenaded with Shaggy - Boombastic. Starters arrived, but there were no dips for our sharing plate. We asked for the dips and the server brought them straight to us. The dips were wrong. The chips served in sharing platter were undercooked, the chicken wings were overcooked and the vegetable pakora was burnt. The food was inedible. I spoke with the staff regarding our issues and advised we would pay for our drinks and the one starter that was ate. All whilst Dizzy Rascall is blaring above us. Staff were brilliant and I can not fault them but sadly the quality of food was horrendous.
Great place for a drink without the riff raff in all the other pubs, had a guy playing an acoustic guitar, very much enjoyed the chill out drink, helpful staff there even got me a taxi back home, as most of the other taxi's I called were not allowed to go where I wanted . It's a nice hotel, I never stayed in the rooms so I can't truly answer that
We had a group dinner here last week. Was greeted by bagpipes and a ceremony presenting The Haggis. Great food!Location: 4/5
Lovely staff, cosy, warm clean rooms nicely decorated and a full Scottish breakfast, definitely worth a visit.
