I lost 950.00 GBP + delivery cost of 70.00 added on to that using this company around 15 years ago. Following a return of a then 32 inch CRT TV Sony after not being satisfied with the screen uniformity, I decided to replace with a larger 36 inch CRT at extra cost, now up to 950.00 the largest flat screen size at the time, for a CRT, a Panasonic TX36PL32. This particular unit was eventually in need of return so I returned this second model with the assumption I would replace with a third unit or get a refund. So the agreed shipping cost was 70.00 to send this model back. We're talking 120kg here - 36 inch CRT TV @ nearly 90kg plus the table / cabinet stand at around 30 kg. The salesperson who mostly dealt with this sale and return and replacement at the time, Kanesh, never arranged a third replacement to be sent out and no refund was issued. When I phoned again, he was not available or around and apparently they have no record of the sale as he Kanesh was supposed to be dealing with it. Somewhere on said Hi-Fi Confidentials accounts at the time will be records showing a profit of 950.00 + 70.00 shipping with no TV unit's lost, hence a nice profit gained without actually sending anything out or losing any stock with either the company or Kanesh or most likely somebody there pocketing the profit from a non sale. Maybe that's why he Kanesh wasn't available afterwards. Maybe he'd been found out and fired or the company just wanted to keep the sale money anyway but not own up to it for the fear of bringing shame on the company at the expense of netting themselves a nice 1020 GBP extra bonus. Well whatever, nearly no chance of myself seeing that money again. I have since written / online issued and taken that matter to the Trading Standards departments. I emailed the company Hi-Fi Confidential themselves and did soon get an email reply. They replied that because the records for that purchase were now over 6 years old, they could not further help as the company's accounts and records are only maintained for 6 years. So because of a sly company that would not refund my purchase of a second TV or replace with second replacement or third overall, effectively they pocketed 950.00 plus a shipping cost of 70.00 GBP for a total of 1020.00 GBP. It's not 100% clear whether the shipping cost of 70.00 GBP was split between myself and the company via Kanesh's arrangement or whether I ended up paying the whole cost. But in summary I probably lost the total of 1020.00 GBP - from the company that is Hi-fi Confidential.
Probably fine if no issues. But if you return something or there is a problem you'll wish you had just bought it on Amazon. I returned an amplifier and had to wait a month for a refund which I had to get via PayPal dispute. Zero communication from the seller. It's not even bad customer service, it's non existent lol. Avoid these chancers!
I haven't visited the store, but I placed the order on their online website which was easy and straightforward to use. I spoke with them over the phone, good phone manner and service. Before despatching my TV they called first to ask which day I would like it to be delivered, which is excellent service. I changed the delivery twice - first by putting it back a week, then by moving it forward. Hifi Confidential arranged for my TV to be delivered two days later after giving them short notice about the change of plan. And I'm ultra satisfied with my 65" Sony XF90, such an outstanding TV, and at a fantastic price by Hifi Confidential.
I bought a tv and extra warranty. The tv was faulty even though brand new and this company were extremely difficult to communicate with.I tried to get my tv repaired or replaced but they were not helpful at all.I bought online and live in Scotland but what a nightmare this has been.It has had a huge impact on my health so i would strongly urge anyone thinking of purchasing from this retailer to think again. The customer Service is appalling and in my oplnion they are not honest or reputable.
its rare to deal with a company so obviously staffed by enthusiasts. The very fact I was sold a really difficult to get Sony HD player sight unseen on the basis of the salesman's knowledge and enthusiasm plus guaranteed immediate refund if needed, speaks volumes. The actual player arrived by DPD in 24 hours and I am absolutely blown away by how good it is.
Staff was very helpful. However they make bad recommendations. I was getting a pair of Bluetooth headphones and they were strongly recommending me to get another pair for a much cheaper price which, according to them, had comparable quality. I trusted them and got the recommended ones but it turned out to be a huge scam. The quality is nowhere near the one I was getting and they don't accept return. Please come here with a stronger mind...
I bought the Marantz PM8005 and SA8005 and got a really good deal plus free interconnects. I paid £10 for next day delivery and the couriers DPD were great, you can even track the delivery van! Really pleased with the Marantz system. The only issue I had was they could not supply the Atlas interconnects as advertised. They did send an alternative however but I asked if I could return them and get the Atlas ones when they were available. They kindly agreed and did send me the correct ones a couple of weeks later. The only issue was they were only 0.5 metre rather than 1.0 metre as advertised. I'm a little disappointed I guess but I got a great deal on the system.
Genuinely top notch experience, I was really dubious about the company at first as I had been duped once in the past when buying a projector on the net, so tanked myself up and started doing some research on them, company check ok, google maps check ok, old reviews ok, paypal ok, google centified shop ok, time for the phone call... Not ok... apparently the all in one LG 9.1 surround system I was going to buy for about £650 was NOT the way to go... If I want quality and future proofing I should buy separates and get something with native Dolby Atmos... Fine I said.... Whatcha got? He can't remember his name duh! recommended an Onkyo HS7805 home theatre system, I'd never heard of Onkyo so was dubious again, it was on for £799 but certainly within the ballpark. I checked out Onkyo and got mixed reviews but generally the good reviews were outstanding, and the negatives were like "well they're not as good as the base denon kits" except the Denon kits cost twice as much, and don't have as much technology inside. And when you buy the top end Onkyo stuff it's every bit as good as the Denon. So as far as I'm concerned I'm happy to buy Onkyo and I'm bloody glad I did... Primarily the guy from HI-fi Confidential spent about an hour on the phone with me throughout the whole process over about 6 or so calls. As you can tell, I'm a noob when it comes to separates, but I am an ex musician, so really like quality, I listen to high end studio monitors everywhere else... I wanted a system that provided a natural response but was powerful enough to maintain that quality at higher volumes. So the 40kg box arrived with DPD, delivery guy was a bit of a git tbh, but that's nothing to do with hifi-confidential. It arrived within 2 days after ordering. The system sounded good after calibration, standard wires were disconcertingly thin, but it sounded nice... Well... It just so happens that Hi-fi Confidential were also sending me out complementary speaker cable! It did take a couple more days for the wire to arrive due to an admin error but it did arrive, and it was lovely stuff... They asked me to measure in advance the lengths I'd need to run... So I did, and imo it was a LOT... but they sent it out to me anyway in a big roll... All free... I started by swapping out the cable on a single surround speaker... f**k me... Sold... spent the next 10 hours swapping all the nasty thin cable for this nice new stuff, never been happier, and after some serious soul searching for calibration I reckon Denon lovers can kiss my ass... Overall... Amazing equipment recommendation, leading price, amazing support and advice, and who can forget free speaker cable... Top guys, top company, they're mah boyz from now on... 11/10. =
I am very happy with the service I have received from these guys, I am a true fan of another very well known UK Hi-Fi retailer but when they only had this in clearance with a protruding bezel I struggled to find one that was brand new and also wasn't far away. I searched around and did my research and found very few places offering this model as a brand new item. The price is about £81 different to what I had been quoted for a clearance model! I come across these guys and checked their reviews as it is very well buying an item and receiving it well but if the after-sales are rubbish then you may as well go else where. However the reviews on Google were very positive and helpful. They phoned me this morning Monday to advise that the item will be delivered today when I had expected a 10 day service as advised when I placed the order on Thursday, so I was very happy with that. I am a fan of a certain other store but I will definitely consider these guys again in the future should I not find what I am looking for. If I am to criticize then it would be that when comparing to my usual store a free 6 year guarantee is not included and that the delivery slip said UE55JU8500 instead of UE55JS8500. This doesn't bother me though as I can clearly see it is the SUHD model which is the JS as apposed to the normal UHD JU. I already have the bracket for this with my current TV UE55HU7500 2014's 7 series so I will be setting this up tonight. Happy days :- I was also unsure whether this would be a brand new item bearing in mind it is a discontinued model from 2015 and their promise holds :- Many thanks.
Ordered a Sony Bravia on the website and it arrived 2 days later. Was a lot cheaper than any other retailer. Thanks for quick delivery to Manchester and great price.
